This week we've got some rather bad news and other news that's either good or bad depending on how you want to take it. And first up, the bad news. We're sad to report that there's only one new release this week and, as you can see below, it's the movie The Ten. Yawn, yawn, yawn ... Moving right along, we also thought we'd share with you the good / bad news (depending on how you want to take it) that most HD DVD related goods are seeing a discount. In light of the recent pro Blu-ray news as of late, Toshiba has slashed the prices on their HD DVD players and discounted HD DVD movie titles. While we don't believe this discounting to be official, it's quite widespread and is happening all over.Good or bad, that's the latest HD DVD news and this week's new movie release. Enjoy, be happy and eat some deliciously moist cheesecake. Because cheesecake rocks and makes us smile.

"Details on the new advertising campaign were still sketchy at press time, but the company's press release promises it will span television, print and online media."
Finally, This should have happened a long time ago...I never saw a HD DVD ad. That's the main reason Blu-ray has been effective, since they can throw in the ps3 ads that It plays Blu-ray. Step it up Toshiba!
I want dual format, the consumer wins...the companies don't which, is why we should all want Dual. Since this war is all because of Sony and Toshiba. Both are at fault.

Really... You never saw commercials with the actor who played Christopher in the Sopranos telling us about HD-DVD? You're in denial...

HD-DVD is dead. Move on, and turn this into a blu-ray column. M$ only backed HD-DVD to slow down Blu-Ray enough for them to get a conrete footprint on digital downloads, which they are nearing.
Buying HD-DVDs now is simply redundant.

you knew that by making comments like that, they were all gonna be against you right? even if its true, msoft boys are sensitive when it comes to people mentioning anything that involves the words sony bluray etc. in its support.

Actually Pikachu guy, I think the problem is more with the term M$ than anything else. Haha, yeah, we get it. They are the only corporation out there that likes making money and often does so at the risk of their goods and/or services. Other companies would *never* dare to do that! Especially not in the video game industry.
Move on.

How many players will one have to purchase before Bluray is finalized?

Dead? Downloading? You're as loopy as Micheal Bay. Microsoft supports HD DVD because of HDi. (Which after using the great java of Blu-ray, Java sucks..it really does..There is no flow, it has longer loading times than HDi)

Just like BDA's statement every month, that they've won the format war in the last year, yet HD DVD still has more than 1/3 of the 3% market. Redundant...Ha!

If you think the load time difference in HD and BluRay is 0.01 seconds, then you should really ask someone who has both formats because it's obvious that you haven't even SEEN both formats.

Most consumers are. The reason "the format war" is getting news coverage is because a lot of big companies are involved.

Yes, they reduced the MSRP of the players, but the movie sale is not limited to HD DVD -- Amazon actually has significantly more Blu-Ray movies on sale right now than HD DVD does.
