Today is
Rock Band downloadable content Tuesday and that could only mean one thing ... we get new
Rock Band downloadable content! This week's DLC offerings include a few cover songs (yes, icky cover songs) from Black Sabbath including "N.I.B.", "Sweet Leaf" and the ever-so-awesome "War Pig" which are available a la carte for 160 Microsoft points each or bundled together for 440 points. But come on Ozzy, what's up with the cover songs mate? The covers just aren't worthy of the Black Sabbath name. The covers aren't worthy!

I have both Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3. I'm glad Rock Band has stuff coming out all the time. I had a feeling guitar hero 3 would be lacking in the DLC like they did with GH2. Thats why I'm glad I have Rock Band as another option

The master tracks no longer exist So covers are essential

yeah, that's what i was afraid of. totally sucks.
did anyone buy there? how are the covers? good/bad?
i think GH1 had the best covers. ever since, it seems like the covers are more rushed and less polished.

I don't know, but N.I.B. sounds like Ozzy to me. Maybe it is a cover band w/Ozzy at the vocals??? It is MTV.....

I don't think so. It seems like if that were true, they'd do it like Neversoft did with Talk Dirty to Me for GH III (listing it as a cover, but indicating that Bret Michaels did the vocals).

Honestly, the Sabbath covers are a lot better than some of the other ones they put up. It's certainly easy to tell it's not the original, but it works OK. I'm still not sure how I feel about the Bowie covers, for example, which are far more of noticeable to me at least.
Too bad they won't all go back to the studio to re-record like Living Colour did lol.

I sound more like Sweet when I'm doing vocals on Ballroom Blitz than the cover singer does. (smirk)

Wow, you guys have a whole lot of hate for Rock Band, and a whole lot of whining for GHIII. Good for you, I guess. Have fun with that, I'm going to play some Rock Band.

What the hell HMX do great covers, especially Black Sabbath. The covers sound near perfect... and their great songs by the way (You might have to be older than 12 to realize that though)
And lol at GH3 DLC, don't hold your breathe guys. RockBand in two weeks already has more DLC than GH2 and GH3 combined.

As an owner of both GHIII and Rock Band, and someone who hasn't even thought about GHIII since Rock Band's release, the steady flow of DLC for Rock Band has me very happy that I made the decision I did. I expected this, and it's coming along nicely. I expect by the end of next year for the flow of music being released for Rock Band to be hard to keep up with, and I'm loving it.
