And the flood of new releases keeps on, um, flooding. This week's headlining title is easily The Orange Box from Valve and EA. Boasting what is probably the most bang for you gaming buck this year, The Orange Box contains Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Episodes One and Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. That's five bits of gaming goodness for one delicious price. Well, it's not a delicious price, but just remember that you'd be expected to pay the same price for just one of the other games being released this week. Speaking of other titles, let's have a look at all the games being released this week. Now, go forth and purchase. The consumer machine demands it.

I actually tired sending in a comment about the awesome commentary in this game to the podcast (I'll try again if it's not in this weeks podcast) so I'll explain it here:
In the small one level freebee called Lost Coast that Valve gave owners of half life 2, they introduced a really interesting commentary system. Small 3D orange comic book style voice boxes are put into the enviroment that when you pressed the action button (used for picking up stuff) would activate anywhere from a 30 second to 10:00 commentary on the current eviroment. This was then put into Episode 1 and 2 (and TF2, though that should be interesting considering it is multiplayer) due to it's popularity. The commentary showed really interesting tid bits of the developing process including How to draw the players attention to a certain spot on the screen (because it's been a tradition in Half Life to always let players have total control of the camera), how to make Alyx's AI more realalistic and less annoying, or a funny bug that was found in a level during testing. It's really cool and makes a second play through a must (I only wish they would go back and put it into the original HL2). It's kinda like a DVD directors commentary for games and I wish other developers would put it into their games.

LOL...with such an emphasis on Orange Box, I KNEW who was writing this...Rich. LOL...its all good. If I was remotely intereseted in this...I'd get it...but my gaming time and money are in really short supply right now, and there are other games on my radar. Plus Halo 3 is the only thing I play...LOL

I'm getting the Orange Box, but the Thrillsville demo convinced me to pick it up sometime soon. There's no Rollercoaster Tycoon on the 360, so...

Orange box is a rental, Portal and Episode 2 are the only things that I'd be interested in anyhow, and only 2 of the 3 things that are actually new.
Either way, Halo 3 will have me occupied for a long time as it is.
