Maybe it's the Neanderthal in me, but I love mindless hack-and-slash. I liked the first Xbox Kingdom Under Fire games, though I hear this one will be more action RPG than strategy game, which I would be happy with.

What the hell? You want a hack and slash that doesn't let you... hack and slash?
Isn't the point of Hack and Slashers the mindless violence that is associated with them.
Name one hack and slash that isn't mindless in any way, and I will admit defeat.

I agree with you Demon, but I'll be waiting for Ninja Gaiden 2 for my fix of mindless violence. One of either this, DMC4, or Ninja Giaden 2 is plenty to satisfy anyones appetite.

In any case one could argue that a shooter is mindless and repetitive because all you do is well shoot. Same thing goes for driving games, all you do is drive, the only thing different is the road and car. Just because you happen to not get off on this type of game Richard doesn't mean others won't find it satisfying.

I do like this kind of game, actually. But I prefer the possibility of dying once in a while. Ninja Gaiden and DMC are excellent examples. Hell, God of War is a good example. Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and almost any old school beat 'em up / hack n' slash are good examples.
The driving and shooting analogies don't really work, because it's not the mindlessness I take exception to, it's the lack of difficulty.
Honestly, leveling up and getting new weapons is compelling in a hack n' slash game, but it's even better when paired with intelligent enemies.
