Not F.E.A.R. 2 officially named Project Origin

Project Origin it is then. After narrowing down the list of user submitted titles to three, Monolith has announced the official name of the sequel to F.E.A.R. The new title, Project Origin, received the most votes and beat the likes of Dead Echo and Dark Signal. Honestly, none of the names seem to evoke the same feeling as the original title -- you know, the feeling of fear -- but there's not much we can do about it now. Like it or not, we're stuck with it. What does everyone think of Project Origin? Was it your pick, or did you want something else? Did you hate all the names? Share your thoughts! Speak your mind, knowing full well that your voice now counts for naught!

1. I liked Dead Echo

2. Still think it should have been some variation of S.C.A.R.E., Second Control and Response Eradication or something like that. Then the third could have been T.E.R.R.O.R., Third Enemy Reaction Response Ops Raid or something. I'm telling you, giving up the acronym title....big mistake.

3. I agree with #2. How can they give the game a name like that without knowing anything about the story? It doesn't make sense.

4. I was rooting for

6. It should have been called Dead Echo, Project Origin sucks.

Posted at 5:08PM on Sep 6th 2007 by UNSCleric

7. Yeah I agree with some of the other posts that it was really kind of hard/stupid to pick a name for a game that they give you little to No information about. Why?

8. all of the names sucked, but at least this one comes from the original storyline.

9. Why can't it be Project: Dead Origin of Dark Echoes?

Posted at 5:30PM on Sep 6th 2007 by Yuccadude

10. Im sorry, Dead Echo was such a ridiculously dumb name. Im really glad to see that that name didn't get picked.
It just makes no sense.

11. Project Origin = Generic Sci-Fi Title.

I liked my entry: Aphasia. Look it up.

12. Project Origin is almost identical to my submission. Unfortunately somebody beat me to it. When they announced the three finalists, I was like "fuck yeah!", but then they said it was the second submissions, and the "yeah" dropped off of my exclamation.

Oh well...

13. to be honest, all the names fucking sucked. they are all generic at best. i mean i guess it's fun and all because we got to pick the name, but i'd rather have the developer pick the name they liked the most...

14. Voting is the antithesis of creativity. You don't have a poll about what kind of book to write, do you?

Posted at 8:55PM on Sep 6th 2007 by Jonah Falcon

15. All of the choices were pretty dull and uninspired. I think if they're going with "Project Origin," simply calling it "Origin" would probably be better.

16. I submitted E.D.G.E. - Eradicate Deadly Genetic Exceptions, but *I* thought we had an opportunity to shape the content of game along with our new title. I didn't realize they had a game all ready to go and just wanted to pretend a new name meant something...
