Chatpad and Halo 3 accessories arrive next week

Microsoft has announced that both the Chatpad and the special Halo 3 accessories, which include a wireless headset and two controllers with artwork by Todd McFarlane, will be available starting next week on September 4th. While we've known about the Chatpad's launch date for a while now, the McFarlane controllers previously had a launch date of September 18th and the wireless headset was listed only as "early September." Maybe Microsoft figured gamers would want a new controller to go with their new Chatpad. The controllers also come with a limited edition figurine of Master Chief, which may cause Halo fans to overlook the less than stellar artwork. The controllers and headset will run for $59.99 each, and the Chatpad -- which includes a special wired headset -- will retail for $29.99.

Yeah I agree with J Kelly.

I really like the art work. I don't understand the negative reaction.

I'll most likely pick up the Spartan one. I like the composition a little better.

Anyone know if this chatpad can be used to enter names of game saves, or other non-chat use?

I would guess that it does, but I'd like to know for sure. Thanks.

won't this make it easier to cheat in ranked matches such as gears of war? i hope they implement some type of block during ranked matches.

Yea private chat would be easier than messages.

I'd prefer if they sold the controllers that come w/ the Halo Edition 360 (just olive green). That's why I want the headset but not so much the controllers.

I agree with Tony, $60 is double the price of a normal controller, and was ready to buy the halo 3 wireless headset until I found it it is also a RIPOFF at 60 dollars. come on man that is horrible pricing.... they are milking halo 3 franchise for all it's worth and it makes them look like money grubbing sell outs

I'll be getting one of the two Halo controllers for sure. I need a second one and honestly, I like the idea of the slick, smooth plastic sheen instead of the textured matte on the standard wireless controller.

Plus, the artwork kinda reminds me of those van murals people used to paint on the side of old rustbuckets..that has to count for something!

Mauricio,

I think you can use the Chatpad for all text entry on the Xbox, so yeah.

Not positive, but I'm pretty sure you can.
