So there you have it. There is a dim glow of hope at the end of the tunnel though, as EA is "actively looking into" finding a way to allow cross regional play while still eliminating slow connections.

Yeah, they actually mentioned this in a couple of interviews before the release. So... reading is always good for information. Speculation is always more fun.
They did it because Europe sucks. ;)
The real interesting part of this story is why Asians can't shoot dead bodies. What's that all about? Just like the way that Germany handles video games, it's really interesting stuff.

Firstly, I'm always happy to play with myself ;o)
Secondly, why the fuck can't they shoot corpses? Shooting people who are still alive is the problem!
Thirdly, EA used a regional lockout after receiving so many complaints about Americans from the rest of the gaming world. It's actually labelled as a feature on our copies over here..... ;o)

This reasoning sucks. In New Zealand, we get the EU version, but we tend to get better connections in all other games with american or asian users... So by being part of PAL territory, we suffer with rubbish connection speeds. All regions should be able to choose where they play. Not all connections are equal.

I've wondered about the corpse-shooting issue in the past, too.
Some game I played a while back (Bullet Witch, I think?) actually ended your game if you shot a corpse. I'm not sure what that's all about. Some cultural thing perhaps? Like, "One must always show respect for the dead" or something maybe.

@#7 EvilWalksWithMe: Yeah you'd have thought AUS & NZ would be better off with the Asian territory, at least geographically speaking. You're about as far away from Europe as it gets!

Like others I'm curious as to what reasons there are for not letting you corpses in the Asian version.
