For me online co-op is not as important as having giant battles in single player.However it would be a great edition but is understadable if bungie cant make it work.

I mean yes other games have done it but not when u can be miles away and doing vaild things, crackdown did it but the A.I i eman come on they were like humans with the brain of an ant and people just walked around waiting to die.

The problem halo 3 is having,in case people dont understand, is that Co-op can be in split screen because its the same box procesing the same thing and the internet is not involved and bandwidth is not an issue. It can also be done over system link whitch is good because we can go online using xbox connect. Now it could only be done over system link because its a direct connection with no varible.

System link is about 100 mb/s thats alot DSL the lowest internet connection you can have to be online is around 2 to 5 mb/s, compressing what bungie has said to be truly inteligent A.i that flank and plan and appear in different places each time you play along with miles and miles of draw distance and the ablity to have 2 players so far away from each other still performing tasks that is aiding in the fight, its just not that easy of a task.

I mean everyone can rag on bungie all they want saying Gears did it and so on but like what was said in the podcast in gears you were never as far away and the enviroment were much smaller however bungie could impliment the teliport system like dustin said but what if the game required you to go a far distance away?.

All in all its just not as easy as everyone thinks it is theres no add online co-op button (that would be cool though)compressing and sending complicated code threw a worse case senario of 5 mb per second, code that was meant to run smoothly at 100 mb is just challenging. But as bungie said

lets hope that knife is bigger than we think.

eh, im running a 1mb connection and im just fine. I know others with 256-512k connections also just fine
