More Rock Band instruments have crept onto the internet this week. Found in the latest Game Informer, we now have our first glimpse of the drums and microphone. The microphone has a very polished and professional look to it. What's more, it looks like it can stand up to some punishment, which is good since it's going to double as a tambourine. The drums (currently a prototype model) take a step back towards a more toy-like appearance, which is unfortunate in light of the authenticity of the guitar. Each drum pad is surrounded by the corresponding color, which we definitely prefer to coloring the pads themselves. There is also what appears to be a pedal for the bass drum as well.
So, which instrument will you "play" when Rock Band makes its debut?

wow what a piece a crap drumset , they should have a hi-hat above the snare to the left and symbals or a symbal above everything else so it actually feels like youre playing drums instead of banging the hell out of 4 circles all lined up on one level

Umm guys its a prototype, so calm down. Plus they have pretty much a year (2009) until Rock Band is released to fix it. I have to admit it does look kinda cheap, but how much will it freaking cost?

you do realize that those pics are not of the drums and microphone, right?
if you actually read the article in Game Informer, those are artists' renditions of the instruments based on testimony given by the GI staff that played the game. they don't have any actual pictures of the prototypes. the only real pics of rock band instruments are the two pics of the guitar.

La-di-da-di, we like to party
We don't cause trouble, we don't bother nobody
We're, just some men that's on the mic
And when we rock upon the mic we rock the mic RIGHT

yeah, drums need to be more drum set like.. lower a pad to snare level, and higher one to the far left for a hi hat... then 2 more for tom toms, and add a rubber cymbal somewhere then it'll be fine.

@15 In the article when they mention the vocalist being able to play tambourine during solos, one of the devs suggests that totally rad cowbell solos may be in the cards also. :)

Make the drumset look more like an Electronic Set.
A snare, 2 toms, hats, and a cymbal. The one cymbal could double as crash and ride, and the hats could double for cowbell.
Double Bass by the way, and a hi-hat pedal. It seems like a lot, but that's why pussies play guitar. ;)

I'm surprised nobody's gone the whole "learn to play a real instrument" route yet. Well done!
