Change gravity and more in Halo 3's custom games [update 1]

The fellas over at Hushed Casket are reporting that while playing the Halo 3 beta some players have experienced a network error, causing a weird bug to occur, which ultimately displays a hidden custom game settings menu. The custom games menu is chalk full of options, including the ability to change players' speed, ammunition count, recharge rate, motion tracker range, and even gravity settings. Don't believe us? Take a look at all the screenshots that Hushed Casket has unearthed and a full list of custom gametype options after the break. But don't get too excited, because the Halo 3 beta custom gametypes menu is only for looks and does not allow you to make a game with the options. Which is too bad, because we so wanted to play a few rounds of Tankball.

Update 1: Added video of new menus.

  • Halo 3's custom gametypes menu options
  • Damage resistance
  • Shield multiplier
  • Shield recharge rate
  • Immune to headshots
  • Grenade counts
  • Infinite ammo
  • Weapon pickup disabled
  • Player speed (25%, 50%, 75%, 90%, 100%, 110%, 125%, 150%, 200%, 300%)
  • Player gravity (50%, 100%, 200%)
  • Vehicle use (passenger only)
  • Motion tracker range (10m, 25m, 75m, 100m, 150m)
  • Vis effects (black glow, team glow, white glow)
  • Active camo (good camo that might fool and elite, poor camo that might fool a grunt, invisible)
  • Indestructible vehicles (on, off)

21. just a question, any word if popular play types will be hard coded into game like tower of power, zombie apocalypse, star wars and such?

22. I am loving this. All the haters that were saying "Halo 3 is just Halo 2 but shiner" can all shut up. They intentionally only included a small snipet of the new stuff and all the old stuff in the beta, making it feel like the same old Halo. Realize that this beta is NOT meant to show off the game or really impress anyone. The purpose of the beta is to massively stress test the servers and test other online functionality because Bungie knows that this will instantly become the most played online game on the 360 and probably every other console/pc. The purpose of the beta is to avoid what happened with games like COD2 where the online portion had not been thoroughly tested and a poor online experience resulted even though the base game was sound. Bungie, like any good company, is not showing their cards. There is a LOT more to Halo 3 than we know.

24. Why do stupid ass_holes always put annoying music in their videos that has nothing to do with the game?

25. Because they are stupid ass_holes?

26. Hey, I noticed when you look at your profile on the main menu, when you highlight file share, it says something like: Here is where you share your videos, and in the future, other types of halo 3 files.

This seems to kinda confirm the map thing, at least I would think so.

29. Cool, but why do they always have to put that psuedo heavy music in the background? I always have to mute it.

30. The custom games menu is legit and also playable. i just played a few rounds of ultra fast movement and low grav. The options in custom games are unreal. You can design your own power ups and change absolutely every aspect of the game.

32. You're an idiot. The reason for it to display the last 25 games/maps played is so you can save the game type that was used in that game.

For example, if you happen to have played a custom game like Tower of Power (when the full Halo 3 is released), you could select that option so yo ucan save Tower of Power as a game type, if you didn't already.
