The official Halo3.com website has received a face-lift (and tummy tuck) revealing a few nuggets of Halo 3 knowledge. You can learn about the Halo story that has been written so far, check out the various editions, and download a few wallpapers. But what's really interesting is the newish screenshots that are presumably from the beta and the weapon/vehicle list that includes the M6D Pistol with a 2x scope. Lovely ain't it? Take a gander through a newly revamped Halo3.com ... you'll be happy you did.

actually, Frankie has since corrected Halo.com's claim that the M6D pistol has a zoom feature. That is to say, no zoom for the pistol. I believe he stated this in the NeoGaf forums or something

God. Damn. It. Jeff, is euthanasia your thing? Haha. Seriously, though, big letdown. Well, back to my wait for Halo 1 to be made live-capable...

Well, giving the pistol a zoom would be pretty lame. If all the "Halo 1 > Halo 2" kids are really as skilled as they say with the pistol they'll be able to hit you sans a zoom. I believe it's been stated that the pistol will lose no accuracy over distance so you can still hit those long range targets if you're good enough.

Skill schmill. I don't care about all that, "oh, Halo 1 is infinitely better than 2 because of this, that, and the other thing" BS. I want the pistol back because I had infinitely more FUN playing Halo 1 over Halo 2. Not to say I didn't love Halo 2, I did. What I'm saying is: if Halo 1 was online, Halo 2 would be on the shelf.
Halo 3 looks loads of fun, though. I'm really looking forward to it.

First off let me say, I'm looking forward to Halo 3 as much as the next bloke.
Having said that, I'm not looking forward to the next 4 to 6 months. I am already tired of having to sift through umpteen million news articles about ever rumor, inuendo, and unconfirmed detail of the project.
Yes, we know it's coming. We know it's a popular franchise. We know it has top billing and a lot to live up to. That doesn't mean it needs to clog up half of the news items in the RSS feeds related to the 360 at any given time.
Most of these articles I instinctively avoid, but when a mere website update merits an article, it smacks of excessive hype, excessive fanaticism, or a slow news day. (probably all three)

I think Halo 3 is shaping up to be more like what Halo 2 should have been. Halo 3 is a lot like Halo 1, but not at all in a bad way.
