Captured using Halo 2 PC, the newly HD'ified H2 cut-scenes are being made available over at HBO in both Quicktime and Windows Media flavors. Currently, only the first two H2 cut-scenes are available for download in HD, but HBO will be rolling out the entire HD H2 cut-scene library throughout March. Staggering their release in an effort stay on top of the massive amount of bandwidth needed to host these gems. Now go forth fanboys, download H2 cut-scenes minus that icky "popping effect" and in full, glorious, beautiful, HD glory.

I'm not sure how many minutes of cutscenes there were, but if it's less than 30 I promise you that the limitation had nothing to do with DVD.

The quality had nothing to do with DVD being the format. Do a little research before posting. It's not as though HD DVD and Blu-gay are the only formats that can do HD.

I'm fairly sure that the "limited dvd" comment was a joke. Most people knpw that a 2 hour HDmovie fits on a single layer DVD just fine.

maybe it didn't come across, but me blaming DVD for limiting the quality of the cut-scenes was intended to be very much tongue in cheek. that said, the quality of the video would have definitely been better if it were released on blu-ray :)

Why would I care to watch this in HD? The graphics were good and all but still quite limited when compared to Hollywood CGI work. Why watch sub par game cutscenes in HD? It's still like putting a pig in a dress...It's still a pig.

Yeah, I was horribly underwhelmed by the Legendary DVD. I expected, maybe, actually recreated cutscenes, or much, much better looking ones. I didn't notice a difference between the cutscenes and the game, minus pop-in.

I logged over 2hours watching the Cut-scenes, DVD could not store that much SD unless they were stored as Game Data, stored as Film Data it wouldn't fit.

Hey all. I can't tell you how excited I am to see this post here. It was me who recorded these movies, http://claninfectionist.com is my site which I have owned for over a year. If you want to do us a favor over there, stop by the site, we are always willing to welcome new members into the ranks. I recorded these in part wanting to do a favor to the Halo community and in part wanting to attract attention to our little-known site. I recorded them in 1080p HD, and I still have the raw footage, so who knows, I might release 1080p versions sometime, but for now, it's 720p, though still equally beautiful.
I hope you all enjoy these, and please remember Clan Infectionist.
