2.5er in XBLA this week; Catan, Centipede & Millipede

For the last two weeks in a row, Microsoft has put out two Xbox Live Arcade titles each Wednesday. This week, however, they're changing it up by giving is three titles! Well, two and a half, really, but still, it's pretty badass. We got some retro love with Centipede and its sequel Millipede, packed together for 400 Microsoft Points, complete with "Evolved" versions of both. On the newer side of things, Catan, for 800 MS points, will also be available. We know a lot of readers have been looking forward to Catan coming Arcade, and now the wait is almost over, with two more sleeps to go. So, which off these three two are you going to play Wednesday?

3. Absolutely awesome. I'm interested in both, personally. I was wondering when those Atari games were going to appear.

6. Nice! Finally, Catan. Now Carcassonne.

7. Can't compute; more good games than time to play. Can't compute :/

Can't wait to try Catan and see what all the fuss is about.

On an unrelated note, I walked into my local Best Buy at lunch today and saw not one, but THREE Wiis sitting on the Shelf at Customer Service. Out of instinct I walked over to the counter to ask for one before I remembered that I don't actually want one of these things. Are they still getting a premium on Ebay?

8. "Nice! Finally, Catan. Now Carcassonne."

That's in June.

9. None of these interest me, and Catan is especially uninteresting personally.

As soon as I get some cash I plan to purchase Pinball for my girlfriend and perhaps Boom Boom Rocket.

It's all about waiting for Castle Crashers.. I'm planning to by a second controller just for that game alone.

10. Can anybody confirm whether Catan will support single-console multiplayer? Preferably hotseat, so I don't have to buy a second controller?

If so, I'm probably going to make my first XBLA purchase this week ;-)

11. ...I haven't touched my 360 for weeks so that when the Halo 3 Beta hits, it'll hit that much harder for me. (That, and there's nothing to play right now.)

Posted at 2:08PM on Apr 30th 2007 by Toph

12. Centipede is cool; both this and Millipede used a trackball so the analogue stick should control these quite nicely.

Some friends are fans of Catan so it'll be nice to try it out. 800 points is way cheaper than the physical version.

Pinball was pretty cool, and my girlfriend loves Boom Boom Rocket. Only recent disappointment was Mini Golf- the rest of the recent XBLA offerings have been amazing.

Has no-one in the press noticed that as well as having "too many FPS's" and a bunch of other innovative games, the 360 also has the best selection of casual, puzzle, and board games of any console- all with online play?

13. I am the robber of Catan! Any of you Settlers junkies who want to play on launch can look my Gamertag "Vohaul". See you in ranked!

"Can anybody confirm whether Catan will support single-console multiplayer? Preferably hotseat, so I don't have to buy a second controller?"

- Probably no local multiplayer. How would you keep your opponents from seeing your cards? And the trading controls would be a nightmare! :)

14. @Vohaul

I'll be picking it up as soon as it's available on XBLM. >:)

15. i'll be too busy playin pacman that i won from X3F. :D

16. Catan FTW! Looking forward to Carcassone next month, but I'm really anxious for Alhambra, as it's my favorite of the three.

I suspect we WON'T get single-console multiplayer, but c'est la vie. I've got enough friends with 360s that it's still a done deal.

17. @ Jonah Falcon
Alas. I won't get it until after work.

@ DjDATZ
Good luck playing PacMan with 360 controller. You're better off playing PinballFx with the camera. In other words, the controls suck. More power to you if you can still play it well.

Posted at 3:05PM on Apr 30th 2007 by Vohaul

18. I'm satisfied having single player vs. bots as it is. :D

Posted at 3:05PM on Apr 30th 2007 by Jonah Falcon

19. @17 how do you figure the controls on Pinball FX suck? its just the 2 trigger buttons and they work flawlessly.

Posted at 3:10PM on Apr 30th 2007 by a.j.

20. @ 19

He was referring to the Pacman controls being impossible, and they are. I'm great at Pac Man, but I can't play it with the crap D-pad on the 360 controllers. I did just buy a black controller though, and the D-Pad feels slightly tighter than in my white controllers, so maybe they're getting fixed a bit.

I honestly am not super excited about this game, but I probably will get it. I'm an XBLA junkie.
