I liked this in the video.
What happend to the 20 gig?
You got a fresh, blank, 20 gig Hard drive to use on other console, or to sell ...
no way to ... reuse it for you own use..
what a loss :S

For all the people complaining about the DRM issue, can you propose a resolution that wouldn't allow easy piracy? All I hear is, this sucks, they are stupid for doing it this way. I haven't heard one reasonable solution to the problem. So maybe they do it that way because they haven't found any other solution and no one has proposed one. So stop spending so much time complaining about and put that energy into thinking of a solution and then maybe something will change.

What sucks is that all data is tied to the console. That means XBLA games, content you've downloaded for games, themes and picture packs ect...
What sucks is since my 360 did break in the past, I have to play Oblivion while signed on live, or the game thinks I don't have certain content. If you save while you don't have the content, the game thinks you didn't complete certain quests when you do sign back onto live.

So what about us 'British'? When do we get these drives? I've a sister in law that works for Virgin Megastores and I phoned her and asked and they have no info of when these are turning up.
I guess i'll be waiting for the next 6 months at least for it to reach us again....

See iTunes. Limited number of valid Xboxes that will just work with or without a net connection, with the ability to authorize and DEauthorize Xboxes at will. All that we need, is an ability to deauthorize an Xbox, and authorize another. That's all this boils down to. Hell, just calling up support and giving them the serial numbers involved would make me happy. But no, Albert of MS just says 'this is the way the system is designed' as though they could never eeeevvvver change the system.

@ Mighty Healthy
Sorry I couldn't reply sooner, just got back from work.
I, perhaps, worded that a little too strongly. I own 4 360's, and will purchase an Elite or two when they release. I do, by the way, also own a launch console, and it is still working perfectly. I have had 1 of the 4 360's go bad with the 3 red rings of death, but it happened to be my newest 360, which MS promptly replaced. This is where the DRM thing has reared it's ugly head, as it was my wife's 360, and we both download a ton off of marketplace. I can tell you here and now, it doesn't get near the work out my launch console does. :)
I am just, honestly, curious as to the real world numbers of failed consoles. It doesn't change my opinion of MS or their consoles, hell, I went through several PS2's, but never had 1 out of my 7 original xboxes fail. It's just the world of electronics. I would just like to know is it as bad as some would like us to believe, or is it truly within margin.

The Elite doesn't come with the transfer cable. Guess M$ is trying to save money wherever they can...though I think they really screwed up in the ordering process. You mean I can't get a transfer cable unless I already bought the Elite, sent in a rebate form, and have to wait until the cables ship (at some unknown date)??!?? wtf...

Well, it seems that I should not EVER buy any more DLC, especially the way my 360 has been acting lately.
My problem is that while I buy all the DLC, my wife and kids are logged in with their accounts when they play.

@ Jason
My first console return was a launch console that out-of-the-box would not play DVD movies. Pop a DVD in, 4 or 5 seconds later the box would freeze. The replacement console died a couple of weeks ago. It had never left it's perch. Could not have been more well-ventilated.
I'm ecstatic for you since you seem to have a great-working console. That's what I thought I was buying too. Simply because you aren't having a problem, however, please don't cast aspersions on those of us that are having issues. I hope you never have to experience the frustration of console replacement, but if you do your tune might change a bit.

I really don't like that they glossed over the fact that if you transfer your premium to the Elite, you effectively lock your downloads to be usable only when online AND logged in as the GT that downloaded. For the most part it's not a problem. But if my wife wants to play Uno for instance, she would only be able to do it under my Gamertag. I think that sucks royally. Like I've said before, I would have gladly spent the extra 80 dollars to by the elite over the premium, but wasn't given that option...fine. At least you could make a feasible solution for a person who wants to upgrade. No I don't want to spend 180 dollars for an overpriced sata drive. I want to purchase an elite, transfer my games to it, and give my premium to my cousin.
If my 360 ever died, it would be a hard sell to get me to cough up money for a new one...and because of the transfer issues, I'll probably pass on the elite too.

Yep, another dissatisfied customer. I too am upset when I heard about this issue, especially because it was after I bought a new Elite. So I guess it is back to Best Buy to return the darn thing. Thanks MS cause I really liked the Elite. You just made it impossible to upgrade -- glad you didn't do this with MS Office or I would have been double screwed, lol.
Good luck M$ on keeping customers. I have an extra $500 bones to my name after it goes back. Hello Sony?! ;)

Isn't there premium content on the Elite's HDD that will get wiped when you do a transfer? Did I somehow miss that in the video?
