I can't understand why gears of War is at the Top of the List still, it' a great game but the Online is STILL Broken, Becuase the Bullet Lag can(and Most of the Time is) Horrible. my buddy said he logged on the weekend and first game he play had 2 full seconds of bullet lag, Why even play the game.

The problem with GRAW2 multiplayer is the same as with GRAW finding a game is rubbish. if you drop unlucky (like i always do) u end up endlessly joining inprogress games. its nearly as bad as rainbow six when the host fires the game up b4 ur fully connected and u end up watching.
*rant over*

Tell your buddy to stop playing on crappy servers.
You have to have a strong upload speed to host a Gears of War 8 player match. We are talking around 50k per player. So 350kb to 400kb upload speed at the minimum.
I play GoW in player matches with friends that I know have good internet connections, and there is no bullet lag.
This is a solvable problem. It isn't the fault of the game.

The worst aspect of GOW hosting problems is what I call double-host-advantage. Basically the host starts a match and his friend who lives in the same dorm joins and they get on the same team. Since they live so close they don't have any latency, it doesn't matter who's hosting, they both have host advantage. When you join they yell "go locust" Match starts and your team gets totally owned, nobody has any fun but the host and his buddy.

this is the fault of the game... especially if you want to play ranked to get those damn achievements, also not everybody has 8 friends online at the same time to play gears of war who live within a relative distant of there home.
this is the fault of the game..

The guys I play with live all over the country. You don't have to live close to the server to have a good ping to the server.
I am a member of a forum with a relatively large pool of Gears of War players. We know who has the good internet connections. Those are the guys who host. On any given night, there is at least one match going on hosted by a member of the forum. And sometimes there are 3 or 4. We are very organized about it, too. People are designated hosts. The games are not public. You have to get an invite to get in.
It isn't the fault of the game that you don't have a large enough friends list to play in a quality player match. I have probably played in under 10 ranked matches, but hundreds of player matches. I play to have fun, not for the achievements.
I do agree, however, that limiting the achievements to ranked matches wasn't the brightest of ideas. But if you aren't having fun, then what's the point?
Sorry, just realized how confusing it is to have two members posting with the same name. I changed mine to Josh W.
