Screw Guitar Hero II demo stations! Why waste time with a puny demo station when you can bag the real thing in just two weeks? That's right, Activision has officially announced that Guitar Hero II will release on April 3rd. Wait a minute, that sounds awfully familiar. Oh, that's because we reported it two months ago, booyah! At any rate, in just over two weeks, budding 360 rockers will finally get to lay down some righteous chops with the best of them. The 360 version of GHII features the all new X-plorer guitar, updated graphics, and 10 exclusive new songs. Not only that, but Red Octane already has a ton of downloadable content in the pipeline.
So, 360 fanboys, we ask you: are you ready to RAWK?!

DEFINITELY my next game purchase. Well, my next shop purchase - the Oblivion expansion should be available for download the week before.
I've never owned a Playstation, so Guitar Hero will be a new experience for me, although I have to admit that the song lineup in Guitar Hero 1 was much better, so hopefully they'll deliver on their hopes of making the GH1 songs available for DLC.

I hate to go all negative nancy, but I think I may have a valid & thought provoking point for at least ONE person that is considering buying this game. What is it, 100 dollars, easy, with the whole fake "guitar"? My 2 cents, buy a real guitar with that money. I play games to do unreal things that I couldn't normally do in real life, like headshot aliens, leap over buildings, drive a lambo like a madman. When I want to "rawk", I plug in my Mexi made Stratocaster, which cost jes a little over a hundred bucks. sure, an amp is extra, so buy an acoustic (which you, in my opinion, should if it's your first guitar). Learning to play guitar and appreciate music has brought me worlds more satisfaction than any video game has, or ever will. & like the Radiohead song, truly, I believe this, Anyone Can Play Guitar. It is a skill, & it gets you laid. Think Guitar Hero 2 will?? pshhh. So, and I know this ain't for everyone but.. If you're not Richy Rich and considering buying this game, cause it sounds fun and you really love music and have always wanted to "rawk", buy a real guitar my friend, you will without a doubt thank this post one day soon.

I would be getting this, but it costs £70 in the UK which works out as $136! Thats just for the one guitar too! Stupid rip-off Britain.

Awesome, man.
Also, Mexican Stratocasters cost well more than just over a hundred bucks. Either you got a fake Stratocaster or you bought a Squire.

@jamerz - I play guitar for a living... yes, for real. No, I'm not famous. how many real guitars have been purchased because of this game? I'd be willing to bet a bunch so maybe it isn't such a bad thing and maybe it could promote more to actually want to learn. I could be crazy and I am still buying the game.

oh really? Bought my strat barely used from a friend, I should've included that, and yes for just over 100 dollars. No, it's not a squire or a fake. lol, nice try. so have fun with your fake guitar faking and pretending to play along to about 20 different songs over and over again. I'll have a blast with my real guitar, actually playing those songs. Maybe you were the 1 person who couldn't play guitar.. sucks, I'm sorry.
@ Tiggle --
Obviously my post wasn't for you, and directed towards students who don't have that much money bleeding out their ears and have not yet tried their hand at real music. I myself would not have liked to cross a 145 dollar hurdle to finally discover, yep, shoulda bought a real guitar in the first place.

I wish Red Octane would include other types of music as well. I would love to jam to James Brown's "The Big Payback"

Wow, Jamerz, it must be great to be you, what with the real guitar playing and the total GH avoidance. I wish I was as cool as you. I mean I do play guitar, and I have gotten some wonderful attention from women as a result thereof, but since I actually derive enjoyment from Guitar Hero II, that must mean I'm not as cool as you.
Darn.
