Joystiq has posted a metareview of Marvel Ultimate Alliance. The consensus: it's good. From the creators of X-men Legends, it's no surprise that the game is fun. Highlights include a revamped, simpler healing system, better villains than Justice League, good enemy AI, and overall great production values. Check out Joystiq for some quotes and links to prominent reviews. Anyone picked this up yet?

Yeah I got it. It's a really fun game. And even though the combat gets a tad repeditive it's fun to try out all the different heroes and try their powers. And the amount of characters in the game is incredible. I would say buy it if you like lots of action and Marvel. And rent it if you get tired of repeditive combat and only kind of like marvel.

How is this compared with the X-Men Legends titles?
And I'm astonished at the review scores. I thought the word on the street was that this was going to be a big steaming pile of crap. Glad to see it's not.

Great game. They really paid attention to the Marvel Universe (616) and have given casual fans and Marvel fanatics alike something that is accessible and fun.
That being said, there are a few typos in the subtitles. (yours/your's) and some weirdness (Spider-Man can ask Spider-Woman if she's related to Spider-Man, and she comes back with some comments that make it clear her dialogue was written to be said to anyone except Spider-Man.) If the game had been playtested correctly, by people who speak decent English, the game would earn another point from me.
Voices are OK. Some are awesome (Doom's a good one) and some suck (Colossus sounds like a crazed, cheesy, stereotype-laden Zangief. I can't even bear to play him because he sounds so bad.) I disagree with the lack of an accent on the Atlanteans (especially Namor), and I have yet to hear a Wolverine that sounds Canadian in ANY game.
I will say this to Marvel: YOU NEED TO HAVE THE PEOPLE WHO DID CINEMAS FOR THIS GAME DOING YOUR ANIMATED MOVIES. Ultimate Avengers would have been MAJORLY badass if it'd had the animation style from the beginning of this game instead of the 1980s Saturday Morning Cartoon style they used. You want to see how the New Avengers should look? Check out the cinemas in this game.

I have it, and the very little I've played thus far (up to Fin Fang Foom) is very fun. I've lagged a bit, but other than that I'm enjoying it.

This Game is great. For too long have I waited for it's coming which has been foretold. Now that it is here, well all I can say is I don't do much else.
