Reader Paul thinks GameFly is underestimating the demand for Xbox 360 titles:Hey guys, I'm a big fan of GameFly, the Netflix-like service for video games. But, looking at their selection of new release 360 games shows something disturbing. Of the 16 games released since August, 15 are not currently available (hope you want to play Test Drive!). Did GameFly underestimate 360 demand? Has 360 sales increased of late? Or perhaps GameFly is in financial trouble, and isn't ordering enough inventory to meet demand.
GameFly now has three week old Test Drive listed as "short wait, while brand new releases NBA 2K7 and Just Cause appear to be available -- for now. I don't use Gamefly or similar businesses, preferring the pride (and crippling expense) of ownership. Have you been satisfied with this service when it comes to the availability of 360 games? Any GameFly employees care to comment?

They were quick to send me a couple titles during my trial period, but now that I'm actually paying money, it's been really slow.
I'm probably going to return the next game immediately when it comes and terminate membership.

I just signed up for GameFly last week and noticed the exact same thing. I had two games in my queue, the new poker one and Lego Star Wars. Both were listed as "short wait". The poker game took 3 days to be available and then 5 to ship, and Lego Star Wars took 5 days to be available and I'm still waiting for it to ship. At this rate I'll cancel at the end of the month and just go to Blockbuster.

It's been fine for me so far. Then again I play enough games to have it pay for itself. I haven't bought a game since oblivion came out.

Gamesnflix is infinitely better. It's cheaper, faster, and even lets you rent movies as well, cutting out the need for Netflix. Try it and you'll see.
Not to mention GameFly uses an incredible amount of unnecessary packaging in order to get the product there. You don't see netflix sending cardboard...

I used gamefly for a while, but since they started promoting their site everywhere with free trials and what not, their turnaround is horrendous (I live on the East Coast) and they definitely do not have enough copies.

I used gamefly for a few months, then after multiple shipping issues, I switched to Gamerang. I like their service more. They have 4 wharehouses too, as opposed to the 1 gamefly (last I checked). I get them shipped from Oklahoma to Florida, it's pretty fast.
Yea, I noticed once I started paying gamefly, my shipping slowed too. Try gamerang, been with them for almost a year and only two shipping problems which ended up being the USPS's fault.

I've been a GF subscriber for about a year now. Just recently has this 'short wait' thing been an issue. It does seem clear to me that they are on the short side with the 360. You know, I actually am at the level 4 plan just so that I can have 1 game in transport all the time and 1 game open in my queue to get the 'short wait' games ASAP. And btw, I have an empty slot in my queue for a 'short wait' right now. They will have to fix this if they want customers to stay. Also, they really need more distribution centers if at all possible. If you are east of the rockies, your shipping times are probably pretty bad.

Livingh in Delaware means 4-5 days to wait for each game (if I am lucky). I have the two out plan and sometimes they let me hold 3 games at the same time with no extra charge. The wait on 360 games is kind of silly and most new games aren't available right away.
The biggest benefit from GameFly is the used prices. Once you've been a member for long enough you get 10% off and $5 coupons...

Games can cost 6 times as much as a DVD movie! I can't blame them for shipping a little cardboard in the envelope to protect their investment.
I've read quite a few horror stories about gamesnflix at resellerratings.com. If you try to quit gamesnflix you should post back here and let us know how THAT goes.
I've been reasonably satisfied with my subscription to Gamefly. As someone mentioned above, the real benefit is when you buy used games from them. If you can score a new release from them and then buy it, it's like buying a new game at a decent discount. The discs ,cases and manuals are in way better shape than when you buy them from GS/EB used.

I used Gamefly for a month or two when the 360 first came out so I could bang through a bunch of the launch titles that I wanted to check out but didn't want to buy. I had to stop using because the ship time was rediculous. The problem is their only distribution center seems to be in California and I live in Florida so the turn around time was about 5-6 days from when I sent a game back until I got my next. I think if they had an east coast distribution center I would have stuck with it a little longer.

I've been using GameFly for a couple of months, and I've noticed they take forever to ship your next selection (even if it's in stock), after you return a game.
I once waited almost 2 weeks to receive a game. Their excuse, according to an email, was they'll be a delay because of the holiday-- I think it was Labor Day. That single day added weeks!

now my friend's service is another story...sounds like the other posts here - delays, delays, delays.

I had some horrible waits with Gamefluy recently and not getting games shipped by thier fastReturn method.
After an angry email I noticed that my games all get marked fast return now and my games are here 3 days later. I would suggest complaining. If there were more games worth owning I would switch to just buying but for now this fits the bill.
I have heard that often when you cancel you get an offer to have 3 months discounted if you stay. YMMV.

I had gameznflix and canceled during the summer drought. One game was lost in the mail and I just wrote an email and it was fixed. I started back up again a few weeks ago and so has the gf and it's working great.
It seems they have alot more warehouses and also seperate return centers to get stuff back out faster. I live in small, crappy Scranton, PA and was surprised when I saw a Scranton address on my return envelope.

I've been with and cancelled Gamefly twice and am on the verge of cancelling again. Gamefly's 360 fulfillment has quickly gone from OK to atrocious over the last three months ... to the point where I have two empty slots in "My q" and have had to wait nearly a week for them to be filled and have a game shipped (not counintg shipping time) unless I selected a game that came out more than three months ago. More disturbingly, a few of the titles that were listed as "available" apparently never really were and didn't ship either. I complained about it last week and was told essentially "sometimes available doesn't actually mean available" by a GF customer service employee. I can share that e-mail if anyone wants it. What would they say if my credit card wasn't available when their billing cycle ends?
I wish there was a better alternative and, as much as I hate to say it, I wish blockbuster would rent games online. My experience with Gamerang was that they were almost always light on new release numbers.

I use GameFly, and live on west coast, and it still takes a bit for games to get to me. If I return a game on Monday, I'm lucky if I have a game to play that weekend.
Lately, the selection has been pretty bad. When I first started (6 months ago), everything in my queue had a "Keep It" option (which rules), and everything was "Available Now". Now, only a few titles in my queue are available, and almost none have the keep it option.
That being said, its still cheaper than renting games locally.

I have to agree with most of the above comments. I have had Gamefly for over a year now. And while there selection is wonderful, their ship times are absolutely awfull! There are many times that the games they send me are way down on my queue list because all the great new games are on the "Short Wait" list. I have seven Xbox 360 games in my queue right now and the only one available is Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII. I live in Minnesota and it takes almost four to five days to get games from my house to their warehouse, and then a day or two wait, and then an email saying they shipped the game and then wait another four or five days to get it back to my house. The ship times are horrible and I bet I have only had two or three games actually Fast Ship to me out of thirty!
On the plus side if you want to buy allot of games you can purchase games from them really REALLY cheap! Used Chrome Hounds sells at our local Gamestop for $54.00 and I picked it up from Gamefly for $40.00. Plus every three months you get a $5.00 off coupon to take more money off there used games. So if you want to use it as a try before you buy service it is really a great service. I think I have bought 5 or 6 games from them and have only had one problem with the game disk itself. And to their credit, I returned the game back to them and they promptly credited my credit card.
I tried Gamerang myself and they have a distriubtion center only 70 miles from my house. It still took three days from the time I mailed it to the time they would receive a game, and then another three days from the time they sent it to the time that it showed up in my mail box. And the prices for their used games was pretty much the same as Gamestop. Game availablity was in my exerince a little worse than Gamefly. So I have to say I was not really impressed with their service.
I was playing UNO a few nights ago with a guy who recommended gameznflix, so I think I am going to try that out.
I am kind of glad to hear that it is not just me who is having problems with Gamefly. I would really like it XBox360fanboy, would cover more posts like this and less concerning the PS3.

I signed up right after I bought my launch system. I'd say for the first 3-4 months they were acceptable. I enjoyed the service. All of a sudden shipping and receiving slowed down and availability became horrible. I'm using gameznflix for half of the price for a much better service.

I've been using Gamesnflix for 4 or 5 months and it has been great. I've gotten new releases in my hands from them withing a week on 4 seperate occasions now. The shipping is always really quick and I'm pretty much never had to wait for anything to get shipped once I send back a game. I tried GameFly before and there was always a wait between games. My only complaint about Gamesnflix is that they have a single queue for games and movies. It makes prioritizing a little annoying, but since I mostly use it for gmaes it has not really been an issue.
