Let it be known that we don't ignore positive Sony news at 360Fanboy: Recall last week's announcement that EA will grace the PS3 with an upgraded version of Fight Night: Round 3 including a first-person mode, ESPN integration, and some minor graphical polish. When I first heard this, I was annoyed that there are no plans to release this stuff as downloadable content on XBLM. Then I realized, by the time Joe Average gets his hands on PS3, we'll likely be enjoying Fight Night Round 4. Still, it's nice that PS3 fanboys have something to cling to in their hour of need. Maybe EA should throw in some 1080p Burger King ads to really spread the cheer.

Oh, I've little doubt the upgrades are real enough. The developers have had quite a long time to look and their final Xbox 360 version and listen to the feedback from gamers and critics.
To look at it another way, how acceptable would it be were it just a direct port after so much time has passed? There has to be some incentive to buying a year old game.
I suppose Sega could have taken the same approach to Full Auto. Instead of treating it as a sequel it could just be Full Auto: Special 'Won't Leave You Quite As Homicidally Angry At Its Suckitude' Edition.

I think the upgrades on FNR3 on the PS3 will be great, especially when going with the rumble of the controller when you take a punch.
Oh wait...

Looked at the screen shots on ign.com and they look exactly the same as the 360 version. 600 dollars for the same system. oh and the first person mode in the 360 was dissapointing (the mode that you went into when you threw a haymaker) so if its anything like that, screw it.

Everyone talks about how bad Sony did at E3. I'm a home theater guy who wants blu-ray and was actually interested in games like Resistance:FOM and my faith in Sony was renewed.
Then came the part were they said $600 and I turned off the keynote.

I was actually considering this for PS3 since I didn't buy it for the 360 yet. My non-gamer friends still like that POS dualshock controller, so for local multiplayer I usually go with Playstation if possible.
However, I'm glad you brought that up, because that's a selling point. Rumble is very important for the experience, especially in games like this.
I'm still waiting for "Shadow of the light-weight Colossus" rumbleless sequel.

I wonder why EA even bothers upgrading Fight Night Round 3 when they will probily release Fight Night Round 4 afew months after this will be comming out.
Also, ofcourse there's going to be upgrades, by the time this version gets released, EA will have had 10 months or so to upgrade the game. But EA could easily make a patch for Round 3 and add these same features to the Xbox 360 version, but I guess they want PS3 owners to have a "special" version, despite I am sure these same features (and any graphical upgrades) will appear in BOTH versions of Round 4.

I think it'll look great. I'm no ps3 fanboy, but they could make it look better. And *if* they use the tilt sensor in the controller, you can dodge punches in first person mode.
You lose the rumble, but get the tilt. I doubt they'll integrate that feature, but who knows.

Personally, I hated the 1st person mode so that addition doesn't interest me at all. Unless the "upgrades" get rid of the ridiculous "King" I don't feel bad playing this game 12 months before the PS3 owners get it.
It was fun while it lasted and the "improvements" I've seen so far don't really add any value for me personally.

You know,
The Playstation 3 version of Fight Night Round 3 is being released nearly a year later, for nearly twice the cost!
This is a game that originally cost $59.99 on the Xbox 360, but it is now $39.99, and it is sometimes on sale for $29.99. The Playstation 3 version will be at least $59.99, if not more, because it is on the disappointing Blu-ray format that costs a lot of money. The sad thing is, this game doesn't even need to be on Blu-ray, but consumers are still forced to pay for it, just because of another one of Sony's mistakes.
The addition of a first-person mode this late in the game is not something that is worthwhile. A minor addition like that is not something that you are going to want to pay literally twice as much money for, when the graphics are actually not as good as the graphics of the Xbox 360 version, since the Xbox 360 is a more powerful system with better graphics.
One other thing, how in the universe could anyone even consider playing a boxing game or a football game without a vibrating or rumbling controller!
The Playstation 3 controller doesn't vibrate or rumble, and that obviously means football and boxing games are worthless on it.

Look at the title, idiot. XBOX360Fanboy. There is going to be some hatin' going on around here when PS3 is brought up. Stick to PS3 Fanboy, if you have some sort of problem. I bet you can't even come up with half of PS3's sticker price.

does anyone play this game for that long? give it to the ps3, at least players can shake their controller in anger when there isn't any rumble feedback.

this game is cool. it will probably be better on the ps3 because it is coming out later(more features, graphics look the same tho)... but like someone said, will it be worth $30 more? the answer is no. the only feature that is really worth anything is online play and the 360 has it in spades.
