I'm calling foul on the n64 verion of Goldeneye being "too large" to download... The Xbox360 game demos are HUUUUGE... The n64 cartridges couldn't hold that much memory.

there's a 50mb limit on XBLA games so people can put it on their memory cards. that is why goldeneye won't be on live arcade.

Thats a bunch of BS. goldeneye is 16MB. thats like half the size of most XBLA titles. They could easily put it on there if they wanted. and adding online and 16 player supprt will not push the size over 50mb either.

I get such a kick out of "More downloads on Live (ten million so far) than iTunes had on launch".
What a pile of "we are going to whine because Apple is kicking our ass in another area" crap. Is it really appropiate for MS to compare free demos to 99cent songs? MS, please don't be so sucky.
The only thing I want to know about XBLM, is when can we download and use our Xbox360 at the same time.

For the love of it all.... lets stay away from marketplace advertising. I'd rather pay $50 a year for what I have now instead of being forced to see clips cluttered all over the marketplace and forced to watch a videoclip or some stupid crap before a download or something.
And about movies? Haha, no kidding... I've got 1GB free on my HD... where is it supposed to go?

The idea that Microsoft thinks they have the potential to take on Nintendo in a battle of old-school nostalgia is absurd. They can't undo over 25 years worth of games. Add in the Genesis & TurboGrafx, as well as additional old-school developers (which Nintendo has promised will be revealed soon for their VC), and there's no way MS can do it.
Sucks that Revolution won't have GoldenEye, and that's great for the Xbox 360, but I don't see this going very far. From what I've heard, it seems like MS wants to hype this up as a 'crusher' announcement for E3. I just can't see that coming to fruition. I'm getting both a Revolution and Xbox 360, so there's no really loss for me. I just hope Microsoft honestly doesn't believe they can beat Nintendo in the war over nostalgia titles.

Don't you idiots listen??
THE ORIGINAL N64 VERSION OF GOLDENEYE WAS 64MB!
I just confirmed it myself. Now, they can put it as is or update the graphics a bit and still fit well under 50MB with todays compression methods.

Yes, but you have to add in the all the updates and polshing they will be doing to the game. Which would go wayyy over 50mb...
Though I would like to see it on there, to bad its not possible...:(

Wow. Microsoft is totally pulling a Sony on this one. The only difference is that this would be a useful feature, depending on which "consoles" they're talking about.
I wonder if the Sega deal with Nintendo is exclusive? How does Atari, NEC, and the other previous console vendors fit in?

Lmao, nerdy gamers who know absolutely nothing about developing. I think pure ignorance is far more of a reward when seeing these comments then shedding the truth.

I think MS is MORE than capable of taking on the Virtual Console. Here is the list of developers/publishers that have commited to bringing content to the Live Arcade.
Atari
Bizarre Creations
Capcom
Codemasters
CTXM
Digital Eclipse
Electronic Arts
Empire Interactive
Gaia Studios
GameHouse Studios
Garage Games
Gastronaut Studios
Hamster
Harmonix
HipSoft
Hudson Soft
iWin
Konami
Llamasoft
Load, Inc
Mad Doc Software
Majesco
Microsoft Game Studios
Midway Home Entertainment
Mumbo Jumbo (United Developers)
Naked Sky Entertainment
Namco
Oberon Media
Pick Up And Play
pixelStorm, Inc
PlayFirst
PomPom Games
Popcap Games
Q Entertainment
RealNetworks, Inc
Reflexive Entertainment
Secret Lair Studios
SEGA
Silver Creek Entertainment
SNK Playmore
Stainless Games
Streamline Studios
Tik Games
Ubisoft
uWink
Vivendi Universal Games
Wahoo Studios
Wanako Games
Wild Tangent
and that was only as of October. Sega's deal with nintendo was in no way exclusive, and I really hate that Nintendo got all the praise for saying Sega titles would be brought to the Virtual Console, mainly because Greg Canessa said in a Video Interview with 1up.com that titles such as sonic the hedgehog or Golden Axe would be on Live Arcade sometime in the future before the 360 even launched, but whatever. Basically, MS has the power (and the cash) to draw in EVERY SINGLE game that was ever on NES, SNES, or N64 that wasn't made by nintendo. That includes the likes of Castlevania, Contra, Megaman, Final Fight, Mortal Kombat...the list could go on and on. In fact I beleive Ultimate MK3 has already been announced for live! arcade. For all we know this huge announcement could very well be that several hundreds of classic titles, that originally existed on NES, SNES, Genesis, Turbografix, etc. are headed towards the live! arcade...you never know.
Honestly, I really don't see nintendo even having that steallar of a lineup in the virtual console on launch outside of first party titles. There may be a few exceptions, but some of the lists of inital offerings I have seen show no more than 30-40 games.
We are talking about old games here, that can probably easily be ported to either of the two consoles, at very minimal development costs.

I think eventually having a old school gaming service will become a standard feature on consoles eventually.
But MS can have a very successful service as long as they stay away from anything that emulates a Sony or Nintendo console. They can get developers to recompile the games (or use another version or arcade version) so they don't have to emulate those platforms.
Also, I am sure Sega more than likely doesn't have a exclusive deal to Nintendo, they just said they will support having their games on their service. I am sure Sega will more than likely want to get old school Genesis games on any service they can, which includes Xbox Live. Heck, if Sega wanted to (and if they could compress the games enough), they could put a Dreamcast emu and DC games on the service.
Microsoft could also get deals to do TurboGFX, Atari, even the failed 3DO, or any other platform thats non-Sony or Nintendo based on there, or recompiled games.
But, like I said, I think old school gaming on online services might become a standard feature for online console gaming services.

Goldeneye Rom was around 20MB, look it up yourself on edonkey or some other p2p program, rare owns the rights to this game not nintendo, it will be so cool to see this game brought back. It was my favorite game of all time on the N64
