Update: Hopefully you already registered because, according to Major Nelson, the "preview program is now FULL." That was quick.
You were promised the chance and now your chance is here. You (yes YOU) can preview the upcoming New Xbox Experience prior to its release on November 19th.
You were promised the chance and now your chance is here. You (yes YOU) can preview the upcoming New Xbox Experience prior to its release on November 19th.
Microsoft is looking for a few thousand NXE preview participants to give the NXE a trial run prior to its official release to, you know, make sure everything is functioning correctly. To sign up for your chance to be selected as a previewer, simply head to Microsoft Connect, register using your Windows Live ID, then click here to fill out the official NXE preview survey. Answer a few questions, submit that sucker and cross your fingers in hopes that you are selected. And just in case you weren't listening, only a few thousand registrants will be selected, so filling out the survey does not guarantee a NXE preview.
Note too that those who are selected will not have access to a full-featured NXE. Though, things like Netflix, Live parties and Avatars will be included. Now go, get registered and hope for the best!
[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]

"Bah" to the NXE. I've signed up, as I would like to give it a try, but I highly doubt that I'll enjoy it. It's a serious "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it" situation.
The NXE add essentially *nothing* to the gaming platform that couldn't be added to the current system. Party system, Netflix, hard drive installs... tell me that none of this could be done using the current design template... That's right, it could! But no, Microsoft has to change an existing, distictive, function, and familiar system with something that more resembles the competion's setup. What a cop-out. Stand up for your design and make it work, don't piss it all away because Nintendo invented Miis.
It's as good-a reason as any to play offline for the next few months, dagnabbit... Whatever, I'll play Fable 2 stay off Live and I'll be fine.

yeah Riiiiiight.............
and you telling me that the wii beating the xbox by a good 10mil worldwide isnt a reason to change strategy's? or how bout the ps3 gaining ground on the 360? trust me this is a " its broke, hurry up and fix it", situation.

Nintendo haven't sold that many consoles because of the Xbox's dashboard :S they've done so because of their price point, marketing, franchises, target audience and a games catalogue that makes use of an original gimmick.
It's daft and, dare I say it, completely fucking stupid, to think that the Dashboard/NXE change is the reason -or- the solution to Microsoft's competition worries.
This isn't a change in business strategies, it's a change in design. An *unnessecary* change in design. One that time, effort, and money have gone into that could've been focused on better and more productive avenues.

Dont take him too seriously it's so strange that how he hates the new dashboard update but at the same time he couldn't ressist to participate the NXE Preview to get it early, psshtt talking about hypocrite.
But does this means that those who participated before the sign up close will automatically be accepted for a preview of the NXE :D??

If my 360 crashes one more time when trying to change a song or look at a profile-in-game, I'm going to scream.
Or if I have to deal with the sluggish system when trying to drop chat with a buddy to go back to a game, or navigate through a babillion menu systems to do such - again with the screaming.
NXE, please - please come my way. Come on down. Collect $200... heck, collect 300. Just... come :(

I don't see whats wrong exactly with the NXE. I find it a fresh new look and it might be more easier for newcomers to understand how to use the system. Anyways, I came on here too late and didn't get in. I didn't get an invite to PS3 Home Beta also so I guess I have bad luck with these new experiences. Oh well atleast I know NXE comes out November 19th and as for Home sometime the end of this year if its not delayed.....
Congratulations to all those who get into the NXE preview.

Man I wish I wasn't asleep when this was announced :(
I am desperate to see the new dash. As a X360/PS3 owner the Xbox's current dash looked really tired and dated compared to the PS3's XMB. The is the only plus the PS3 has over the Xbox in my opinion. This dash looks set to eliminate that, atleast for me anyway. I'd LOVE to get in early. But I missed out, oh well.

Good riddens then your the kinda gamer I don't wanna see on live anyways always complaining about how the game isn't going your way etc I can tell your that kinda gamer. Sad and funny thing is if you don't get into the preview for the NXE I bet you will be glued to your xbox at 12:01 am on the 19th to get it.......

The moment I see someone talking about "kiddy" avatars, stealing the idea from Nintendo, etc. I immediately know not to pay any attention to that person, as they obviously don't have the facts to back up that assumption or opinion.
Nintendo didn't create avatars,
Online identities arent "kiddy", neither are representations of the identity used in a visual manor that is able to be integrated into a variety of purposes and uses, for a variety of age and target demos, and the new interface is needed for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the content now offered on XBL.
