No offense to anyone, I have all those games, played and beat all those games, but in what universe were MGS4 and Halo 3 released in the same year?

How about in the universe where the last Gphoria came out before H3 came out. In other words this universe.
What universe are you viewing the internet from.?

All great games. To be nominated says something about these titles. Congrats to Bungie for making such a solid title... not here to listen to cry babies and haters who don't like it. To lose out to only 40 votes says something about the success of the other titles as well. These titles are all fun and hopefully they'll just keep coming.

2 Superintendent references in the video. First "Keep it clean", and then the superintendent in the bottom right corner when it says "Thank you, seriously, love bungie". Also i wonder what the "4 weeks" was all about =/. Still congrats to bungie :)

I thought GOTY awards were for games... released.... that year?
Am I missing something? From the sounds of it it was a user based vote too?

It's since the last Gphoria... And Since the last Gphoria came out before Halo 3, it technically is part of this year's competition.

Whoever leaves the most money at G4's doorstep wins.
This post is sponsored by Mountain Dew Gamer Fuel, make sure you're guzzling one down while you preorder the collector's edition at Gamestop-Power to the players!

CoD4 the most sold game of 2007? I thought they had put out an announcement saying they were, even though it was already stated that Halo 3 had far outsold it?

Halo 3 has more players, check Major Nelson. Funny thing about opinions, they're opinions. This was voted by fans, as in the same people who play these games on Xbox Live, and Halo 3 beat it out. Even MGS4 beat CoD4, which means that the amount of players who believe CoD4 is better is less than the amount of people who feel Halo 3 is superior.

wrong..
that only lasted for 3 or 4 months..
halo took over in July..
(and I going to go ahead and assume you arent talking about the combined COD4, pc, 360 and ps3)

I'm glad Halo 3 won. I get a little annoyed seeing the flaming helmet and knowing i'll never get to see it in a game or have it for myself.

How is life in Microsoft's PR department?
Just because Halo 3 is an XBOX exclusive.... why does that make his comment about a BUNGIE game make him part of the Microsoft PR department?
He clearly gave props to Bungie - NOT Microsoft.
You get a reading comprehension fail.
This game still would've won game of the year if it was on another console because of how f'n fun it is offline and online. The number of people playing it online just goes to show how popular it is - despite your apparent dislike for this game. Accept it and move on.

Halo 3 deserves it. There hasn't been anything this year, or last year post-Halo 3 that even comes close.

BIOSHOCK!!!!!!!!!! I've played all of the nominees except for MGS4 and Super Smash and I can honestly say that I feel Bioshock is the best game.

I bought the collector's edition of Bioshock. When I was playing it I wanted to find all of the tape recorders to hear the story and my wife enjoyed watching me play. After I beat it, I didn't even go back to see the "bad" ending.
When I bought Halo 3, my wife played WITH me. We played co-op for the entire game, and even went back and found all of the skulls and went for the level scoring achievements.
I'm not putting Bioshock down, I thought it was a great game, but I definitely didn't have the same experience I had with Halo 3.

Halo 3 is bad compared to the first game. I sold it a few weeks after buying it. It wasn't worth the pricetag, especially with the terrible ending. BioShock more than deserved the award due to the fact that it wasn't another sequel or rehash. The story was much more compelling and entertaining imho. At the very least, there should've been more original titles to choose from. Everything was so predictable that it was boring. The only standout this year was Mario Kart Wii for Best Racer. I don't think anyone saw that coming...
