As big an Xbox Fanboy as I am, I'd have to argue for GTA IV, and MGS4 as being bigger in 2008... if you are say any game on any platform in 2008. Gears2... yeah, but there have been bigger titles in 2008.

Gears 2 isn't out yet, so there's no point in saying it is or is not bigger than anything else. The anticipation easily matches GTA IV or MSG4, though.
Anyway, I really liked the elevator sequence and have a feeling that it's Epic's way of doing a subtle homage for BioShock. Especially the garbled old-timey music. Nice touch. They're really focussing on mood, which is great.
Also, on a minor aesthetic/technical note, I love the way depth of field is used when aiming down the sights. Another nice touch.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, just responding to the first poster. I'll go on record right now saying this game blows MGS4 out of the water in sales. And better yet, we won't have to sit through hour and a half cut scenes.

even though i like gears of war and probly will like gears of war 2 i think resistance 2 will be better in my opinion and xav de matos gears of war is NOT the biggest and most anticipated game of the holidays.

Well, from a financial and critical response (at E3) standpoint Gears of War 2 is the biggest and most anticipated title of the year.
Resistance 2 has a lot to prove, I liked the first one but it felt rushed. I am anticipating it thought.

Do you guys know wtf arguably means? Xav is right with this statement because gears will probably have the most sales of any game this year. So please stop trying to twist his logic and words. He's not making a guarantee like you.

woah of the year?? sorry but you got that wrong. The most anticipated was GTA4 or MGS4, Gears of war 2 is not even close to those games. and resistance was awesome especially the online, it was very addictive. Gears of War 2 is one of the biggest game of holidays though.

Actually I disagree with MGS4. While it's a great game I think it's safe to assume Gears 2 will outsell it... and if more people buy one game over another that means the anticipation for it is higher.
So, Gears 2 over MGS4 yeah. GTAIV, no.

nope. While God Of War was in fact first, Gears of war is the more popular game of the 2, and offers multiplayer, making it last much much longer.
And for the debate above, GOW2 is a AAA title, it will be larger, and sell more then MGS4. The only game on any platform that will do better then GOW2 is GTA4. And if you were to compare gta4 360 only vs GOW2, i bet GOW2 outsells it. If anyone thinks GOW2 is not a system seller or a big thing coming, your smoking something. GOW2 will easily be one of the top 3 selling consoles games ever (GTA4 and halo3 being the other 2).
