While the long awaited sequel to the classic franchise has been confirmed for Nintendo's WiiWare download service for some time now, there was still quite a bit of speculation that that game would be releasing on more than just a Nintendo platform.
Mega Man 9 was originally revealed via an OFLC ratings board leak, and was listed there as a multiplatform release. But this was taken with a grain of salt as the OFLC has been known to list things as multiplatform which ended up not being so. Now apparently, someone over at arstechnica has gotten thier hands on a Capcom E3 roster list which seems to confirm that the blue bomber will be making his way to all download services, XBLA included. Since Capcom has been relativly good to the Live arcade in the past (Rocketmen, Commando 3, SFII, etc), we think it's safe to say that E3 will bring the official reveal of the 8-bit wonder.

I think it might also be worth noting that there was one who tipped off a Mega Man fan site off about this 8-bit look well before it was finally announced... one of the other things he specified is that it was coming to everything.
So I'm hopeful.

im not sure about this. I mean I can buy megaman 1-8 and a bunch of the X ones for gamecube and whatnot on 1 disc for $2 off ebay. Why should I pay $6 or $12 for JUST mega man 9?

Who would pay money for Mega Man in the first place?

@ Striker
A lot of people would actually.
This game is by far my most anticipated game of this year, and I would probably pay more then 20 dollars for it if thats what it came down to.
Just call me an oldschool fanboy.

Because those games are old and they are trying to make a profit out of them, this is a new game.
400p to 800p for a new Megaman game sounds about right. I mean if it gets the 2D.5 treatment better yet.
I hope it gets a stage builder like Megaman Powered up!

This would be the first reason for me to buy something from Live Arcade.

Problem: you can't afford games.
Solution: get a job slacker.
Some of you really don’t understand the whole Profit Investment system.

Problem: you know not of what you speak and can STFU, I am quite sure I have more games and systems than you will ever have and it's more than just a Profit Investment system you moron.
Solution: You still need to STFU and stop lending credence to OLD OLD GAMES that people continue to pay too much for you FCKN troll....

It's a totally new game. I know it has a 8-bit appearance, but this isn't technically paying for an old game at all.

Wow It's a real shame I can't literally piss on Mr.ESC I am not pissed BTW, just can't stand trolls such as yourself.
You really must think you are funny with your moronic statements, it's nice and funny to make your statements as I am quite sure in real life you live in your parents basement , it's a shame you have no real life other than the internet.
I am sorry your inflatable doll won't hold air or that your parents won't give you allowance for a hooker to help you out, so now you are stuck with your sticky hands.
I am done reading this topic so TROLL respond if you want but I won't be reading it.

I wish they'd just port Mega Man Powered Up to XBLA as well... I mean there are way more retro conscious gamers hanging around XBLA than on the PSP I'd imagine.

This is so refreshing! To see an 8-bit game get released in this HD gaming world we live in now. I love it! (PLEASE MAKE MORE 8-BIT GAMES!)
Another thing,
I'm just sick and tired of all this hyper realistic HD graphics shit. (i know the graphic whores that this generation has created, probably aren't happy about how the game looks. but who cares.) It's nice to see something that looks like this. And it's Rock Man! He's so CUTE! (lol) *old school gamer right here*
I will be buying this game when it gets released. but not for the 360. (that's if it gets released on the 360) I don't own a Xbox 360 and I'm never going to buy an Xbox 360. So...

I'm also happy about it, the 8 bit stuff is a nice touch.
To be honest I would also like to see another Megaman Powered up! I mean old school graphics are neat but the stuff Capcom pulled in games such as Maverick hunter X, Megaman Powered up and Ultimate Ghost and Goblins was just priceless.
Many people misunderstand the concept of better graphics, better graphics don’t necessarily mean realism (Look at TF2) but enhanced effects to enjoy more the gameplay.TF2 wouldn’t be the same without that art direction.

Pretty excited about this one, 8 bit graphics on new games is the coolest thing ever. It is a side-scrolling platformer though, so I'll probably get it on a platform that has a proper D-Pad.

I am not feeling the 8-bit look. Megaman 7 & 8 graphics were awesome and 8 also did a somewhat decent job at storytelling with the anime cutscenes. I was hoping a Megaman 9, which I am assuming is the last one in the Megaman series would wrap it the series up by detailing what happened to the original megaman and go out with a bang. This just seems like laziness on the part of Capcom.
