Games have always been subject to getting hacked, and while in today's world of online gaming that usually is a bad thing, it can occasionally be a fun and interesting thing. In the case of any kind of Halo hacking though, very very rarely is there any kind of silver lining. This case though definitely falls under interesting. It seems as though some modders somewhere were able to reskin Valhalla with snow to resemble Avalanche. While there are no signs of any reskinned vehicles, the reskin of the map itself gives the thing an almost "Assault on the Control Room" feel that we felt gamers would be able to appreciate. According to the source of the pics the creator must have a dev kit, so this could be a personal project for some smaller dev (or just a really lucky modder). A few Bungie employees even stopped by the thread to check it out and give their opinions (not overly impressed). While modding will always be a controversial issue, it seems hard to find any faults with fun projects like this.

Looks pretty neat. It would change the whole level dynamic. It would be easier to pick out people cause of the snow.

yeah, this article is a mess.... wth? When you think "appreciate" is spelled "appriciate" then I really don't think having a blogging job is appropriate.

Eh, it isn't the spelling errors that makes this article an awful read. My god man, proof read. I stopped frequenting forums for a very specific reason.
On topic: The trees certainly look out of place without a drop of snow on them.

I hate to say it but isn't that too much snow? I'd love to see a video of this in action, just to see how the stream is effected

Can't spell and can't read, apparently.
The Bungie employee who was "not overly impressed" actually wrote "it's not ever really "worked" for me."

The water shouldn't have been touched; it would have looked better as it was.
As for the grammar, do you guys purposely go to X3F to become Peanut Gallery English teachers in-training? It's not just here..it's any site, IGN being another one of them. What is the major interest in calling someone out repeatedly on typos in news posts when NOBODY CARES?
I think I'll go to my neighbor's place and goof on them for having a messed up tint level on their TVs..

I guess spelling isn't important for online news. You guys need a proof-reader?

I think the snow is a very fun idea, but this specific design has many issues. I don't know if this creator just doesn't understand how snow falls, or if he just figured (like some Hollywood set designers) that if you blanket everything in white people will think it's snow.
Really fun idea, just needs a lot of work...

I've been reading this site for quite some time and I guess I was just taken aback by the overall quality of the post, spelling mistakes included.
It's a rare thing for this site. I understand that there are rampant issues with many other sites in this regard, but it still doesn't deprive me of the freedom to point out mistakes when I see them...
