The sleeper-hit car smash-up game that made it's appearances during the PS1-Dreamcast days,
Vigilante 8 Arcade is actually coming back this generation, according to an announcement made by Activision today. With gameplay similar to the
Twisted Metal games,
Vigilante 8 was all about destroying the other cars while you did fun things in the level and got cool weapons with neat effects. As the game isn't the most deep or complicated, and can be played in short burst, it's a perfect fit for the Live Arcade. Not only is the gameplay and design perfect for
XBLA, but you could never play with eight players before thanks to the limits of controller plugs, but with today's tech we get eight player online matches of car-destroying goodness. The game is intended to be released before spring is out, and has no rating yet (though we'll probably know
when it does gets rated).

If my memory serves me, this game sucked. Though as it's the first of it's kind on XBLA, I'll give it another shake.

Whoo! Never did buy it for N64, but I used to rent it all the time back in the day. Hope it's as amazing as I remember.

I guess I don't need to dust off the N64 after all. Now, if we can just get some 007 love from Rare. And how about some Killer Instinct?

I remember this game and the sequel for it being amazing on the N64. Of course I was young then and thought every game was amazing.

I'm disappointed they didn't go for Vigilante 8: Second Offense (one of the greatest games ever!) but all the same I probably won't be able to resist this one.

This was one of my favorite games on the n64. I played it all of the time. Then when i got donkey kong and it had the expansion pack cartridge thing, it made vigilante 8 look noticeably better. I can't wait for this. I haven't been this excited about an arcade game ever, until this one.

Great game and definitely something lacking on XBLA and the 360 in general. Can't wait.

YESH!
I remember hearing a rumor about V8 coming to XBLA awhile ago and now it's finally official! Woot woot!
I loved this game. Like someone said above, the sayings when they use a special are a thing to love!
Gotta admit though, the screenshots seem to portray a pretty bland landscape... I guess the original was that way and this is also an Arcade title so... I tried a rommy for this but hated it.
Anyway, woot!
