Seemingly out of nowhere, a backwards compatibility update has been unleashed for the Xbox 360. While there are over 80 new games on the list, the ones that catch our eyes are the numerous sports titles and a few of the Xbox's better dungeon crawlers. These include Dungeon & Dragons Heroes, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Hunter: The Reckoning, and The Bard's Tale. Honestly, we could recommend any of those titles for hours of excellent hack and slash action. You can even find quite a few laughs in The Bard's Tale, which stars Cary Elwes and is narrated by the late, great Tony Jay. Another title that has finally made the list is Breakdown, Namco's bold first person experiment. Check out the full list of new titles after the break.

I still haven't been able to play my Destroy All Humans 2 that I got for Christmas... the same one I got my Xbox 360 for and then gave up the old Xbox. I feel guilty about my friend giving me a game I asked for and then me not even being able to play it. Silly me assumed that the backwards compatibility was at least 98%, though!
Hey, I'm just glad to see that they're still working on this!

This is surely in preparation for all these titles being available for download on the Fall Update firmware.

Wow, I never would've thought that The Hunter: Reckoning would be made backwards compatible before X-Men Legends I & II. Oh well, at least I get to add another great X-Box game to my 360 playable list.

Yeah, still no Chronicles of Riddick. WTF is the point if they're not gonna update that one? And yeah, yeah, I know they're coming out with an updated version, but I'll still buy the new one even if they offer updated compatibility with the old one.

pssst.
if it's popular and has online play, it's not a priority. they don't want to put any money into something that draws away from new games' sales and is tapped out as far as profits go.

How ca you guys mention D&D Heroes (terrible), then mention Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance (not bad), but ignore Forgotten Realms Demonstone (better then both!) Tsk tsk tsk. And here I thought Richard new is old games.

mike, I didn't want to imply all these titles will be immediately available for download, but if it wasn't for the new firmware with download option, I bet that Microsoft wouldn't bother with backcompat anymore. The firmware will only enable the menus and download stuff. But this way, MS has the backcompat in hand and can select titles for download from a larger catalog.
