Turn 10 hears community, drops Forza 2 DLC price

We always knew the developers over at Turn 10 were awesome folks, but we never knew they were this awesome.

After announcing tomorrow's release of a new 600 Microsoft point downloadable Twin Ring Motegi race track for Forza Motorsport 2, Turn 10 has since changed their mind and is dropping the price before the content even becomes available. Posting on the official Forza 2 forums, community manager chespace mentioned the price change and says that he was able to convince the marketing folks to drop the price to 400 points due to the Forza 2 community's feedback. Can you believe it? A developer actually listening to their community and lowering content price before it gets released. Mad props to you Turn 10 and now we can't help but recommend tomorrow's new 400 Microsoft point DLC. High five guys, high five.

[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]

2. wow someone that listens.

about time.

3. I'm glad to hear that some developers care about the community. Without consumer support, there will be no games to create DLC for.

4. I'm a 35 years old guy and I'm planning to buy a game console to make the winter easier... I've heard a lillte bit about Nintendo Wii, XBox360 and PS3, but at the end of the day, which one is better? I saw a poll at http://www.pollvox.com/VoteFor.aspx?pollID=111 indicating that Nintendo Wii is better, but how much beter? Can anyone help?

5. "Yeah we were going to rip you guys HARD, but since we noticed you were on to our little shenanigans, we have decided to now rip you SOFTLY."

Thanks, guys! Really appreciate it.

6. Or maybe they initially were going to price it at 400 points, but someone in the marketing dept. said,

"why don't we say it's going to be 600 points and then a couple days leter we pretend we are listening to the people and drop the price to 400 points"

Yes, No, Maybe....I thought of it; definately someone who makes more money than me could too.

7. Carlos...

360 has the biggest library of games with some stellar titles coming out soon...plus all the great titles already out:
Halo 3
Orange Box (PS3 as well)
Great racing games (Forza, PGR, Dirt)
Crackdown
etc...
..it also has great online content, with what is widely considered to be the best of the wireless experiences.

Wii is alright...I have one, kinda ignore it unless people come over there...it's like a "party console" to me, haha.

PS3...umm...well...it has blue ray...and Metal Gear...nothing that really appeals to me *shrugs*

9. Depending on your own personality and lifestyle, carlos, any console can be yours.

A so-called "casual gamer" with not very much time on his or her hands might find the addictive gameplay of the motion-sensitive Wii attractive. Good games include Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 and Wii Sports. Price is around $269 depending on where you live.

The more hardcore gamer or one who owns a media centre might find the other two consoles better.

For example, both the 360 and the PS3 support HDMI with the 360 offering a HD-DVD addon for $200 (?) and the PS3 supporting Blu-ray out of the box.

As for games for the 360 and PS3, the 360 has the largest library being on the market longer than its competitors with games such as Halo 3, the Orange Box and the soon-to-be-released Mass Effect. Prices are around $300 for the console.

As many forum-goers will complain about, the PS3 does not have a strong library, although many will like the destructive gameplay of Rachet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.Prices are around $500 for the console.

10. I want to buy this just for the fact that Turn 10 is being cool about this.

Posted at 7:49PM on Oct 25th 2007 by Brian

11. I'm buying this and rubbing it on the faces of RedOctane. This is what developers should be doing, listening to the people who support them.

Posted at 7:52PM on Oct 25th 2007 by qbix

12. Oh, this is awesome. I was prepared to grudgingly buy it at the original price already... I'll happily buy it at the lowered price! Thanks for listening to your fans Turn 10!

13. Thats fricking cool man, everyone should buy this, if only to encourage people to drop the prices of their DLC

14. well actually when the Forza 2 demo was announced people on the East coast got mad at the release time so Turn 10 changed the time by 3 hours so Turn 10 dus listen

16. This is truely awesome news !!!
Long live Turn 10 Studios !!!
I still cant believe that forums could actually serve a real purpose other than complaining (well, its still complaining, I know!)
I hope you guys (Turn10) get to be the ones who continue the Project Gotham Racing series... Im sure you could release a forza game every two years and a PGR game every other year...
Cars are cars right ??

17. I'm getting sick of people naming the 360 as the console for the "Hardcore".
Like hell it is.
So, what now, hardcore gamers = people who love shooters, and sports games?
When did this happen?

There IS no console for the hardcore gamer right now. None.
It's STILL the PS2.

This gen sucks. The closest we have to a successor to the variety/quality of SNES/PS1/PS2 titles is the DS, and I find that personally extremely depressing.

19. Red Octane...you reading this?

Posted at 9:10PM on Oct 25th 2007 by Clint

20. Lmao @ Otis!

That was sarcasm, right? Right?

As far as I'm concerned, hardcore gamers play games more than most, regardless of the genre.
