kanye west is so full of himself. is there a way to filter out talented-less self-proclaiming "artists"?

Obviously it's not up yet because Microsoft doesn't care about black people.

@Alex Well, right now Kanye is number two on album sales charts and has the number three single on iTunes. I'm not too into his music but a lot of people obviously like it, so Microsoft is offering what MOST people like. Gotta change genre's up a bit from time to time, you know? :)

Kanye sucks. His rap is awful. He would be much more appreciated if he had gone the way of timberland and not just tried to do everything himself. I love his beats and can't hate on him for that but as soon as he starts rhyming i just have to turn the CD off. I stopped liking Kanye when he cried on Punk'd like 3 years ago.

I stopped checking after getting chronically disheartened. Can any other Canadians tell me if they ever moved on from Tenacious D, or are they still the Artist of the Month in the Great White North?

While he is no Talib Kweli (Blacksmith TV FTW!!!) or Mos Def..it is nice to see Hip-Hop getting some love. I am so tired of nothing but corny pop rock shit. (Ozzy not included)Now how about a not so mainstream artist there MS?
MF DOOM...Pharoahe Monch..something dammit!

I was just about to send you guys this tip. I'm happy to see Microsoft reaching out to urban communities by hitting them square in the ears and eyes...eventually (get it together Microsoft). It's a growing sector that they haven't tapped into.
I live in an urban community, Harlem, NY actually, and it's rare to find someone with an Xbox. It's all Playstation out here in New York City. Sadly, when I ask people why not Xbox there's an idea that Microsoft doesn't market to them and Microsoft doesn't want my money.
I hope the people here at X3F are above hip-hop bashing and comparing it to rock. Because in essence you're alienating people and pushing certain people away from what we all know to be the best community on earth. I personally adhere to the different strokes for different folks mentality. To be honest, I wasn't crazy about all the rock bands on Marketplace on top of that the lackluster look of that whole Artist of the Month thing turned me off. I hope the appearance of that section changes more to an iTunesesque type set up where we can benefit from good music anytime we want it and Microsoft could really benefit from their micro-transaction business plan.
To end this on a high note! Kanye is talented but he can be a crybaby. That's what all my friends said about him until they saw the Saturday Night Live skit he did this past weekend. Hilarious! He's redeemed himself in their eyes because he can poke fun at himself. Check it out at YouTube. Pop the champagne and pass the pumpkin. Peace.

Screw you haters. Apparently you guys are now the minority because Kanye is topping the charts. Enough of the punk rock crap.

thanks for dropping science, instead of foolishness.
But yea, I'm into a little bit of everything. Where was the annoucement when Incubus was Artist of the Month?
I realize Kanye polarizes people like no one's business...but come on if you think Ozzy right now is quality music. HAS-BEEN. Say it with me.

Kanye is one of the only rap artists I can listen to these days.
While I'd love to see White Stripes, Muse, or Arcade Fire in his place, it really isn't bad. And it's 1.99 cheaper than iTunes!

Having grown up listening to Mos Def, Del Tha Funky Homosapian, Ice-T and others, I'm a little less inclined to enjoy Kanye's music. Ya for having some hip-hop as artist of the month, but could they pick someone who isn't constantly saying or doing stupid things? Bum-rushing the stage when he didn't win the MTV Europe video awards, comparing himself to Jesus, pitching a fit because Britney opened at the VMAs instead of him.
Its so hard-core to whine ;)

Let's count the number of white boys in this thread that haven't even listened to the new Kanye West album and still think they have the right to have an opinion. An artist is judged by his art, not by his eccentricities.

And let's also count the idiots who claim that Kanye is not a peer of Talib and Mos Def when Kanye produced Talib best single and Mos Def is featured on more than one Kanye songs. Do you people who claim to dislike commerically viable hip-hop music even know the facts or listen to the music?

This Album is pretty good. Don't assume it sucks because the guy is full of himself. Listen to it before judging his work based upon your perception of him as a person.
