So, by now we're betting that most of our readers have finished most, if not all, of the Halo 3 campaign. From here there are several natural progressions. Maybe you'll start fiddling around with the saved film feature, taking screenshots of your most glorious moments. Perhaps you'll delve headlong into multiplayer, owning n00bs and taking names. Then again, you might try your hand at creating the perfect maps and game types in Forge. But, if you're like us, part of your post-campaign regimen will include the search for skulls. For example, we just took an ill-advised blogging break to grab the elusive IWHBYD skull with a Joystiq buddy. The fever even seems to have gripped the folks at Penny Arcade, as you can see from the image at right. We'll admit it, we're using guides, guides, guides. Off the internet of course -- we're not going to do something silly like pay for one. How goes your hunt for the skulls? Are you employing the mass-intelligence of the internet or are you going it solo, trusting your killer instincts to uncover them? Dare we ask if there's anyone out there with all of them?

Seems to me everyone and their mother has all the skulls. I can't play a matchmaking game without seeing that helmet. I've gotten them all too, but my incentive to do so was to get the cool rare mask, but now its more common then the Shotty Snipers game type. I'll just stick with the EOD helmet. At least that one requires more than just an internet guide, time, and the Normal difficulty.

I absolutly had to refer to the internet to find the skulls. I have 11 of 13 so far, with the last two I need being on "The Ark" level. Hopefully I'll be able to find those two tonight.
Next mission: get the multiplayer achievments. I have no idea how I'm going to get a double laser kill on free-for-all. I got the triple kill last night, now I need the quad-kill.

I really really hate that you can get the skulls on normal and just quit the level as soon as you touch it.
What they should have done is make them only findable on Legendary, they activated as soon as you found them and would not turn off, and you only 'claimed' them when you beat that entire run through. And you got the sword by completing a Legendary run with all gold skulls active. Now that would have made the Hayabusa armor a real badge of honor.

Paul, please describe the skull a bit better. What level is it in. Gold or Silver?
Sofun, lol yep no achievement for that skull. You did all the ring jumping so that you could claim the multi-player helmet. Personal gratification is your other reward.

I'm holding out on looking through a guide until a month from now. If I haven't found them by then I'll use a guide.
I totally agree with finding them only on Legendary. The helmet is inspired by Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden is extremely hard, why not make it extremely hard to get them?

I had a strong Skull kick, but then I went after the Terminals. Now, that is awesome. If you read all the information on the terminals, and read the last terminal on Legendary, then you hear the whole story of the firing of the First Halo rings. Man, its some really good stuff. It explains why humans were left behind and the "secret weapon" that Cortana was talking about. Just remember to read all the terminals. Its the only way to get the achievement. You have to read all the way through...
