Halo 3: Where's mah skulls?

So, by now we're betting that most of our readers have finished most, if not all, of the Halo 3 campaign. From here there are several natural progressions. Maybe you'll start fiddling around with the saved film feature, taking screenshots of your most glorious moments. Perhaps you'll delve headlong into multiplayer, owning n00bs and taking names. Then again, you might try your hand at creating the perfect maps and game types in Forge. But, if you're like us, part of your post-campaign regimen will include the search for skulls. For example, we just took an ill-advised blogging break to grab the elusive IWHBYD skull with a Joystiq buddy. The fever even seems to have gripped the folks at Penny Arcade, as you can see from the image at right.

We'll admit it, we're using guides, guides, guides. Off the internet of course -- we're not going to do something silly like pay for one. How goes your hunt for the skulls? Are you employing the mass-intelligence of the internet or are you going it solo, trusting your killer instincts to uncover them? Dare we ask if there's anyone out there with all of them?

The skulls, terminals and meta game feel like a chore, not fun. I've got 2 skulls I think. One terminal. I'm not really inclined to find the rest but I'm sure I will eventually.

i liked the hyabusa helmet Alot more before it got whored around by everybody. 3/4 of the time i see it in a match. sick to death of it. especially when it's some noob trying to look pro.

whenever i see a guy with a sword on his back, im like "wow dude. you have either to much time on your hands or got that with some help."

and as for quitting i only quit once, that stupid one sided territories. what's the point of going through to the end if your team just screwed up in the beggining? i wish they brought back the old territories...

I've been stuck at a location with crap for internet, so I had to get my H3 fix elsewhere. The night I got the game I did a co-op run with a friend, so I figured I owed it to myself to do a solo heroic run.

I used youtube videos to get them as I went, along with the terminals. I only had to go back for IWHBYD since it hadn't been discovered at that point. Now I wear my hayabusa armor with pride, and will be wearing it with a katana once I finish up the last of my achievements.

I got them all with the help of YouTube. I did find one on my own though, the first time I played through the game. Next I need to find all the terminals.

Yup, I got 'em all, but was led to most of them by clan members who used guides. I found a couple by myself out of chance, mainly the first and last, but the rest was with some help. Cause that's what Xbox Live is about. Community.

I got them all, but you can count on not seeing me run around with that gay samurai helmet on like every other person on Halo. Seriously, only a 12 year old would think that thing is kool, especially when basically everyone else has it

To hell with the haters who say it looks ugly, my sony 40" xbr2 combined with my elite hdmi outputting at 1080p looks as sweet as any of my other games, if not more so, because it is Halo and awesome.

Yes, because liking a fictional, video game helmet makes you a homosexual.

Oh, and skulls? Oh yeah! I remember those. Mm, katana body armor is nice and I haven't seen that many online with it.

Must be a slow news day, eh?

Used a guide and a video to find all of them, and I got them in about 2 days with someone else helping on co-op. Of course, after I got each skull, I turned it on with scoring, and went for the high scores for the achievements at the same time. I tried to get all of the terminals too, but I only looked at them without realizing I had to activate all of them, because both players in co-op have to stand next to it to activate it and that only happened once unintentionally. So I have to go back and get all the terminals again.

Yeah I got em all. My goal right now is the 1000 achievement points and the samurai sword... but some of the online achievements are tough - like the triple kill with the sword, the four kills w/in 4 seconds, and the spartan laser double kill... it's gonna take awhile...

I did a skull run in 4 player co op with my flatmate and 2 xbox live buddies, went through and got all the skulls in about 2 hours sicne all you need to do is find them, then save+quit.

I did it because I may as well get everything I can for it, I wont even use the helmet as 99.9% people on XBL have it and I play as an Elite anyways.

My skull search consisted of creating an elaborate notepad file which I then consulted every 5 minutes in a level until that skull was find. It was annoying if you forgot a skull near the end of a level though.
