Tetris Splash splashes onto the XBLA this Wed.

Old-school Tetris fans will have a splashy-wet good time this Wednesday, because the Gamerscore Blog crew announced that Tetris Splash will be diving into the Xbox Live Arcade this week. For the uninformed, Tetris Splash is a six-player Xbox Live enabled version of Tetris that is all about going back to the basics and is simply solid, clean and untainted Tetris fun. And don't be worried about the "Splash" in Tetris Splash, because it is nothing more than decoration as the game is focused towards an aquatic theme with marine life and watery wetness all around. So, nothing crazy that'll change up what Tetris is all about. With three different game modes, solo or multiplayer play local or over Xbox Live and even an aquatic screensaver mode Tetris Splash sounds like a solid purchase for Tetris enthusiasts at 800 Microsoft points.

Tetris Evolution actually has a lot more modes, skins and so forth. This is comparatively simple, although I don't think a bad value.

Might grab it if I like the demo.

Dont we have enough lame "vanilla" tetris games?

Wheres Welltris or Super Tetris?

I can only imagine a very colorful and shiny Geometry Wars-like Welltris remake. It would be glorious.

Great! Then why so late? games like tetris should be among the first games for XBLA.
Everyone knows and plays tetris. They should release more games that people know when they released the 360, games like Tetris,Arkanoid,
Maybe the will release IK+ some day :D
Quake 3 Arena is going to kick ass!
Maybe make a Amiga classic in HD called Moonstone for xbox live :D

All I know is that if they screwed this up like Tetris Evolution people won't buy this. If it's screwed up, I wouldn't want it for free and I have played or owned almost every Tetris game and clone out there.

$10 for tetris? with different backgrounds?
this is the saddest excuse for a "new" game they could push out on us.

Xenocidic - I didn't mean for XBLA.

Tetris has been remade to death, every recent variation being more lame than the last.

My point was there are other Tetris games to milk as well. Some that haven't seen a release or remake recently.

Or am I the only one who remembers Welltris fondly?

why would you use the d-pad for Tetris?

Theres only 3 directions, its easy to use the thumbstick. Its not like Street Fighter where the extra freedom of input actually makes it more difficult to execute complicated moves.

This is just bad. I don't think very many will care much about tetris. Their is only one game I wish would pop up as new each wed and that is puzzle quest. Oh well, just means more halo 3.
