What's happening at Sundance?

It's creepy and bloody, it's EA's Dead Space

Today, EA lifted the mysterious "yet to be announced games" curtain unveiling their latest sci-fi horror IP, Dead Space.

Dead Space is a somewhat stereotypical third person survival horror game where you play Isaac Clarke, a space engineer, who sets out on a job to fix a communications ship, but soon finds out that the whole crew has been taken over by some sort of alien infestation and that he's next. Somewhat un-original, yes, but maybe the leaky screenshots will help bring the game into focus. Gamesradar just posted twelve leaked screenshots that are supposedly in-game assets and, as you can see above, it's bloody. And anything bloody or disgusting piques our interest. It's way to early to pass judgment on Dead Space right now, but we'll keep it in the back of our melons for when the game releases onto the Xbox 360 and PS3 Fall 2008. Until then, check out the flash-extravaganza that is the official Dead Space website and see what mischief you can get into.

Isaac Clarke? Are you kidding me? That's dumb. Arthur C. Asimov would've been sooo much better. Or Phillip K. Gibson?

In the newest GI as well, graphically it looks pretty decent then again it's EA so... now if they could just make a game work well online then they might have a shot.

This is the cover story in this months GI. I haven't read it yet. I probably will once I read every other thing in the mag. It really doesn't interest me at all, but when you're poopin', you gotta read something, right?

@6,

Sheeit (har, har), I haven't received this month's GI yet. What they need to do is turn Event Horizon into a game. That could totally pwnz0rz teh 1337 madn3$$. Of course, it would probably just wind up sucking.

Actually in the new GI, developers Redwood Shores talks about Dead Space being heavily influenced by Event Horizon/The Thing/and Aliens. It looks very cool, they say "the most-chilling sci-fi horror game the world has ever seen.."

#15 has a point.
EA's realised that their image is takering a huge battering with the roster-updates and is taking chances now. Shouldn't be a financial risk if they're still pillared by roster updates and Sims regurgitations.

I think this game could really turn out good. EA is starting to put out quality games, they just need to fix the DLC.
