Just arriving in our inbox a few minutes ago was a Call of Duty 4 beta update straight from Infinity Ward. In their update email (posted after the break) they confirmed that they are raising the rank level from 11 to 16 tomorrow morning around 10:00AM pacific (yippy!). The raise in the rank level cap will allow beta players to experience new perks and new features including clan tags which occur at level 12. The current rank level cap has been the only thing holding back current CoD 4 beta players' fun, so we're sure the increased leveling will add a new layer of excitement to the beta. Big w00t to rank level increase! In other CoD 4 beta news, those around the world who've been waiting for their chance to get in on the beta will be allowed to do so soon. Infinity Ward announced that UK Live members will be able to join the beta this Friday simply by getting a clearance code from one of the various gaming websites listed and enter it online at the UK CoD 4 website. Also, both Australian and New Zealand Live members will get their chance at joining the beta tomorrow as well.
We're sure other countries already have received access (here's looking at you Italy) or will be joining soon, but honestly there's a lot of European countries to keep track of. So, we advise heading to your country's specific Call of Duty 4 website to get your specific details when it comes to beta facts. Phew ... we'll see you online.
Call of Duty 4 Beta Email Update
Hey Everyone –
Straight to the Point: The Level Cap Is Rising!
Friday morning at 10 am PDT (1 pm EST) we're going to be increasing the Rank level cap to Level 16. This is going to allow you to rank up and unlock more weapons, more perks, and more features; including Clan Tags (lv. 12). This is the first of several level increases we're going to do throughout the beta, so keep playing, and we'll keep you informed of incoming updates. Thanks to everyone currently playing for the tremendous amount of feedback we've been receiving; Keep sending it, and we'll see you online!

Yeah like 95% of all the people in the US only Beta time frame were either German, Canadian, or British. The other 4% were 11 year olds and 1% were Americans over the age of 17.

Other than the downloading games settings bug that made the game all but unplayable from last monday(ish) till Friday, yes, the level was really the only thing keeping us from enjoying the game. Honestly I stopped playing the beta once I got Red Tiger camo and the Acog for my M4, only to find out that neither was useful or entertaining in the least =/.

Sounds like somebodies bitter.
You were exagerrating of course, but your ideas are waaaaaaaaaaay off pal. The only reason you notice how many foreign players there are, is because you dont "notice" americans. You only take notice of something when its out of the ordinary.
And yes the beta exclusivity was messed up, but who cares. There wasn't a limit on how many could sign up so its not like the americans lost out.
And regarding the Lag/Foreign Languages issues. Here we are, less than 2 weeks later and the beta is officially in europe. These issues were always going to be present when the beta was released in europe. They were inevitable.
You have to play with Foreigns as it is on xbox live, so whats the difference? There really is no harm in letting foreigners play the beta. Yes it was "against" the rules, but if it was so important then the rules would have been enforced more tightly.
And no, i didn't sign up for the US beta. I saw the hubbup that the first wave of keys caused when some non americans got in, so i assumed that it would have been better monitored/enforced so i didn't even try.
Oh well, at least you are vaguely more mature than the posters on the COD forums.
"Every time i hear the british accent i want to puke...i cant believe they screwed us over so much and let these lying scum into the beta. The british dont deserve to play this beta. Not now, not ever." - A direct quote from a forum post with 20+ pages of agreeing posters.
The ignorance and full blown racism of "the land of the free" is truly halarious some times.

No way dude, not even close. If you enjoy graphical pop-in and grenades that don't explode, let alone bullets that don't go where you aim them, then play the COD4 beta. Fun game, but not even close to Halo 3 in my opinion.

Well unfortunalty the only games I've joined, and I've played alot, where games filled with horrible accents and foreign languages. Its ok, but it was exclusive to the states. Everyone gets their turn, Europe gets things before us, and we get ours. I just think it's lame that people had less of a chance in the lottery because of people abusing the system, specifically minors and other nationalities. And you can't be racist against a culture, plus I only know one british guy who isn't an absolution douchebag or "wanker" on xboxlive and that's because I happen to know him personally. Some games are fun with people with different native tongues, like UNO, because you can try to communicate via camera, which is really funny sometimes. But in a team based game it just doesn't work. I liked the english filter in Far Cry, great idea.

I played with alot of French Canadians and Brits (also Germans) before the Beta was opened up in the UK. Honestly it does piss me off, but not because of them getting in early or anything like that, but (in the case of the French) because of their different language, any teamwork goes out the window. It's instantly a lesser experience because I can't understand them, and they can't understand me. In the case of Brits, the fact that I am an American (what a crime that seems to be these days) the dialogue instantly turns towards the obscene. This is why clans (managed clans...Bungie...I hope you throw that funtionality in Halo 3!) and parties are so excellent. You can choose people that you know are above board, or that you know from school/work/whatever, and that experience is never slaughtered by some guy (it's usually a group of foreigners oddly enough. I'm not sure why that is) that is talking in moonspeak.

Just got my code from Eurogamer, they have over 150,000 left. The stupid thing is that they are sending out the download codes on Monday, the day that Live is down for maintenance for 6 hours. My new laptop also arrives at the same time that Live comes back-up, and then I only have 5 days until I go to Uni.
When will I play?

I am English, and I when I play R6V I always prefer an English room. Americans are always rude and abusive, and especially if they realise you are English/British.
Maybe it is just the time difference that means all the scum are on when I play. If I am not being insulted, it is heavy breathing, an 8 year old, red dots, or cheaters, and they are nearly always American.
But I do agree, the US beta was abused, but they shouldn't have made it US exclusive in the first place.

@34 - Please don't think the average American is actually represented by Xbox Live players. Unlike the 8 year olds you seem to be playing with, or the abusive players you play with, I was brought up with respect and morals for others. It is a shame kids these days are not, at least not from the surface.
I'd rather play with British and/or European players, or Japanese/Asian players. I find them more talkative, and generally nicer than the children I normally see playing Live games. Of course the language barrier is an issue sometimes, but hey, we are all Human and we are all trying to have some fun.
I just got into the beta from the Eurogamer thing, I felt bad for joining since I'm in the US and all, but since the US beta was abused by many, I figured what the hey right?
