The latest issue of Game Informer reveals that Square Enix is working on a brand new RPG for new gen consoles. Entitled The Last Remnant, the game is being developed with both Japanese and US audiences in mind. In a first for Square Enix, the game is planned as a simultaneous release in both territories. While the Xbox 360 isn't mentioned specifically, the game's producer, Hiroshi Takai, notes that The Last Remnant will break Square Enix's tradition of console exclusive games (in other words, it looks like the 360's global market share is too tasty to pass up). The game offers two main characters from which to choose: a typical Square hero and a darker anti-hero designed to appeal to American gamers (check out the image above; we'll let you guess which one is which). A brand new RPG from Square Enix on the Xbox 360? Is there hope for Final Fantasy after all?

This name was registered recently, so people figured it'd be their new announcement. Guess it was right.

there's actually LESS change of FF coming to Xbox now after this.
People speculate it would because Enix said they'd support all 3 consoles, now with LR being on xbox, FF-D (and Crisis Core) on PSP and Nintendo getting their share. I don't see why they'd want to port FFXIII to xbox
It's not like xbox owners have ever greeted JRPG with an open arm

Yeah I mean just look at this website, after breaking story that square enix is making a JRPG for the xbox360 you get just ONE comment for the ENTIRE week. If this were an article about company X making FPS #102903 for the xbox, you'd get 100 comments from ecstatic FPS fanboys discussing every minute detail.
This really says a lot about the audience Xbox360 is after and why this console fails and will continue to fail in japan. and you wonder why japanese rpg makers are reluctant to develop for the platform.. even with an attach rate of 5/console none of those games are RPGs and none of that installed base is interested in anything but shooters making RPGs+Xbox 360 a total waste of resources.
