Shadowrun so wants to be Halo

Over at FASA Studios' IGN blog they posted a few screenshots of Shadowrun from back in the good ole days, way back when they were prototyping the game IN Halo's engine. As you see above, in the earliest stages they simple broke open the Halo code, popped some Elf and Troll heads on a few character models, colored up the HUD a little bit, and there you have it ... instant Shadowrun prototype! But thank god the screens are from the prototype and not the final build, otherwise someone would have some serious explaining to do. Head on over to FASA's IGN blog and read about what goes into creating great maps, it'll make you have one of those cool "ah ha" moments.

2. beta tester as well, liked it for the few times I played it but won't buy it...

3. This game (the current, pretty version) is something I would buy in a heartbeat for 30 dollars. I'd probably get it at 40. I'd be interested at 50 and would end up picking it up if a bunch of friends were into it. At 60 dollars I will ignore this.

Having said that, it does look like a lot of fun.

4. I was also a beta tester...and this type of game doesnt really appeal to me much...so I wont be getting it.

Although I did enjoy playing the beta...

5. Also was in the beta. It was decent enough, I'd have played it for a few months if it was a mod for a pc game. Not worth more than $20 though.

6. I was also a beta tester, but I wanted to say something about this hate train that's leaving the building here.

I enjoyed the hell out of this game. Had Halo 2 on launch night and played it more than I care to admit. Definitely looking forward to H3. However, by the time the beta for Shadowrun came my way, I had all but forgotten about the joys of what a FPS could be. Until now.

The thought that went into the two maps available in the beta is noticible, as they're fun and addictive, with a good amout of space. The four races and all of the available tech/magic allow for combinations of abilities that, while squirrly to figure out initially, can open up an experience that will put hairs up on the back of your neck.

I really did not expect to like the game as much as I do now. I was very impressed by what they had so far, had a blast and can't wait to hand over some money for this when the full version comes out. I do not work for FASA. I am not some FPS junkie, although have played my fair share (say it with me, "Project: Snowblind"). I only wanted to defend a game that I think is pretty damn brilliant. Who needs Halo?

7. "I only wanted to defend a game that I think is pretty damn brilliant. Who needs Halo?"

FASA needed halo to make a prototype of their game...

and with the other people who say they would pay at most 50 bucks for this... I would prolly only pay 40... I didn't get into the beta so I dont know how the game is but if a demo comes out and I like it I will prolly buy this game... if I can find it for cheap.
