Bungie is asking for your help. More specifically, they're looking for artistic Halo fans to create a multiplayer emblem that they'll include in Halo 3. Sounds sweet doesn't it? Their only requirements are that the art has to be your own work and that it should be simple, unique, and have wide appeal. So, if you're the artistic type, fire up Photoshop or old trusty MS Paint and let your creative juices flow. And don't worry if it isn't perfect, because Bungie will be redrawing the winner's emblem for inclusion in Halo 3. Get to work kids, you have some mad street cred to earn!

No prize? Not even a free copy of the full game?
Sure Bungie.....I'll do your artwork for you, get nothing in return, and then have to pay to see my own work. No problem.

You can also use Paint.Net (requires .net framework 2.0). Oh and I read the rules you can only enter once!

yea not only that but what happens to the thousands of submission that they dont pick, i guess bungie wont alter or use anything them either? right they go into that recycle bin never to be seen agian right?
762 is right at least dangle a carrot in front of my face if you want me to do your game art for you.
not that i dont think they are able to make their own, but using your base without some kind of reward just smells of hubris.
does bungie really need their base to make a "offical" fun submitted emblem, why not let me use the camera or paint my own, then i can share it like i share my gameplay videos? or is it just easier to charge me 200 MS point?

I've spent my morning working on a few designs.. I wouldn't want any reward other than to see the design in the game!

and im sure your pay 5000 points for unlimited beta access, when 5 years ago they would have HAD to give it away for free or get laught at my the likes of Valve, Id, and Epic who give out demos for the PC, as a standard way of dev'ing a game.
hope far we come from gaming 5 years ago.
the point is your dropping what you expect from a developer, and allowing MS and bungie to get slopy, what to stop them from charging for the documentary on making the game, nothing becasue they abuse your loyatly not reward it by creating inovative user friends features, IE like being able to upload and make your own emeblem.
yes seeing it in the game is nice for that one guy but what about the hundred thousand other dicks?

Then we would see a bunch of kids with Vaginas, Breasts, and Dicks running around Halo... I hope they don't let us make our own emblems.

well that would be solved if MS let me restrict by age who i play with,
im in my late 20s i'd love to be able to set a delimited to "under 18".
Also who cares. what does the sight of a penis/beast/ or "heavens" a vagina freak you out or something, just think you can call him a dick and he'll have one above his head.
i mean xbox just need to get that it's not nintendo, 80% of its base is 20+ male, they need to embrace the sexuality and market it, not remove it or censor it, like those stupid themes.
just bulid in controls(which are already their) and then pass the buck off to the parents who should be parenting.
stop limited what i can do or look at becasue MS thinks the money is in the kids
(its not its in their game playing dad) and all the other HS/college/post college males that play it.

Wow, if we could wipe out under 18 players...I guess it is just a dream.
But what a dream it is. No more pre-pubescent voices chattering in M-Rated games. Too much to ask.

Yea if only we could separate the under 18 players from the older ones....... I'd have to still play with little pre-pubescent voices all day.

Yes..Bungie, if you're listening, offer some 18+ multiplayer and 'no whining' servers or something like that!!!

Separating the older from the younger will also:
- Annoy the smarter young ones even more.
- Not work against older trash talkers(I'd say most of em trash talkers).

As a professional graphic designer, I must agree with Post #1. Contests like these are unethical. Bungie gets lots of free artwork. The artists get no compensation whatsoever. How can they even call this a contest? There's no prize. Contests have prizes. Bungie is using it's fans to be slaves.

Just curious, why is this contest only open to the US and Canada? Just curious, there is no prize, so why the limit of territory of submissions?

Bungie isn't making their fans their slaves - they're just tapping the community for some ideas, probably in the exact opposite way. They want to give one or more fans the chance to get their work put into a great game!
It says right in the rules that you get $0 and they get your design - if you don't like that, don't enter. But personally, even if I was a graphic designer, I still can't see how this wouldn't be good for you - think about how many gazillions of people will be using and/or seeing your emblem in the game if you won? You could tell practically anyone that you made that emblem and it would just be more credit for you.

@ Zach S,
you have to be joking, first of all Halo Sucks, and this contest sucks period. i mean it is not worth it.. Zero, Ziltch, nothing, nada. Yet pple at microsoft will be like wow the ones making all the bank cuz the emblem that you or I or whomever created, thats our stuff that we designed for that game and we get nothing.. hello you and I may not be rich, but microsoft gots freaking bank, they could and can offer us something much better than a damn design and get nothing for it.. lame
