Gyruss and Minigolf putt onto Arcade

So, today you have two flavors to choose from for your weekly Xbox Live Arcade fix. In the retro side of things, you've got Gyruss, complete with updated 3D rendered graphics, multiplayer (co-op and versus) over Xbox Live, coming in at a cool 400 MS Points. On the other side you've got 3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures, which features 36 holes, 4 player support over Live, and even a nifty course editor to mix things up with, and that one runs you 800 points. So, not that we're expecting Microsoft to make a habit out of it (yet), but what do you think about having dual releases, with one retro and one "new" game available on the same day?

1. Minigolf is hard! Especially that damn rocket level.. Played it for a few minutes this morning, definitely worth the buy, will give the multiplayer a run through later. The girl liked it as well.

2. Rainbow Six:Vegas map pack is out as well... 800 gp.

3. Yeah it's out, but man you have to hunt like a fiend to find it, under genre shooters etc. Why they couldn't just put a link into the game somehow I have no idea.

4. Golf, ehh. Wasn't that great in my opinion.

The R6V DL is very tempting.....best shooter ever, period, end of discussion!!

5. I love this idea - i've always been on about this since they started pumping out retro titles that they should have a dual release of retro + new.
Great :)

7. They should always pair up retro releases with a new release. Give us the best of both worlds whenever they want to drop a retro title onto Arcade.

I really liked the 3D Mini Golf. Played through the trial twice this morning before work. Good, fun gameplay and it looks pretty nice, other than the questionable character designs. Probable buy for me.

8. Yeah, I always thought if you're going offer a retro release, why not pair it with something new?

At least that way there'd be no complaints about not having something new released.

But I have to admit, between the two, Gyruss was the one I purchased.

Tried 3D Mini Golf, and I got a hole-in-one on the second hole, but I'm not 'feeling' this one. It's okay. Would have perferred something more along the lines of Zany Golf.
