Update brings more Crackdown vehicular goodness

If you've been playing Crackdown lately, you may have noticed an auto update has been released for the title. And before you ask, no it's not the Halo 3 beta activation. Major Nelson got word that the Crackdown auto update helps fix minor technical junk to make the game more silky smooth and increases the number of gang vehicles cruising Pacific City. But we still haven't heard from Realtime Worlds about the new achievements or downloadable content. So, we must exercise that "patience" thing we always hear about ... patience, patience, patience.

Has anyone noticed a smoother experience or more vehicle goodness after you downloaded the update?

plus im missing only 2 hidden orbs to complete the game. rest assured...i will bring the game home next weekend and finish it. lol

and then he can have it again until the new DLC comes out or until the halo 3 beta, whichever comes first...and then...hes not getting it back until im done with the DLC and/or the halo 3 beta is over. lol

i want my crackdown back. :(

3. polar,

there are 3 places where you can get that sub-achievement. either at the nightclub in los muertos...there are 4 or more cars on the bottom most level...and there you can blow them out...might i remind you...this does not have to be on currently moving or occupied gang vehicles...it can be on stationary non-occupied gang vehicles.

the 2nd spot is the car boss for los muertos...diaz i think his name is...(its a big stadium-like building with jumps inside)...once you kill him there will be 7 vehicles in that building on which you can pop the tires...

the third spot is in shai gen...on of the tall buildings has a parking lot under it with roughly 10 cars parked in it...you've got to be kidding me if you think you cant get it there. :P lol

there may be more spots...but these are the obvious ones. enjoy and good luck!

6. Actually, my friend and I were playing last night after updating and our connection got cut at least twice, whereas it has never happened before.

Posted at 1:21PM on Mar 30th 2007 by Nick Spacek

7. Now that you mention it, I did seem to notice a bit more street activity last night. But, I just started the Volk so I figured it was just due to a normal increase in difficulty. Guess not. If so, that's very cool. It was a lot of fun last night.

8. Shit hot I've been trying to get the steal gang cars acheivement for ages.

Hopefully this'll help!

9. i got the blow up X amount of gang cars in 60 seconds achievement last night under the tall building in shai gen, they keep swarming with tons of vehicles it was like fantasia, and ...

@jimhuf ... i noticed that too, but i didn't put it together that it was due to the update, maybe so, not sure though

10. I found a nifty trick for the tyres, use the shotgun, each tyre is counted as 5 so you only have to pop the tyres on 1 car.

Plus I can't get Repo, I must have riden 200-300 gang cars, and do they have to be occupied when you press Y, cos the Gangs get out of them before I can press Y.

Back to the Update, there are definately more Cars, and the Hit Squads come much quicker, and there are far more on the Roofs, in Shaigen all I have to do it get rid of Wang, but the number of gang members is the same as if all of the Heads where still there.

And finally, the draw distance is definately reduced, you can't see orbs from as far.

Posted at 1:31PM on Mar 31st 2007 by mattclarkie

11. it makes sense to reduce draw distance if theyve added more gang members. Only problem is the draw distance is still short when you have crime off. they should make it so that if no crime draw distance is back to normal and then when crime on do what they need.

12. anybody else feel like there might be too many gang members? i can pop their heads off with the best of them but i seriously cant go anywhere without my tires popping. talk about annoying.

on the plus side i did finally get my steal 100 gang car achievement...

13. I definitely noticed an increase in the amount of gang vehicles patrolling the city.

to mattclarkie:
As far as I can tell, the gang members need to be in the vehicle when you commandeer it in order for it to count for the Repo Man achievment. The easiest way that I've found to do this is to go to the Shai-Gen island, where the gangs aren't initially aggro. Just walk up to a gang car, take it, and drive away till you can't hear them shooting at you anymore. Then get out and repeat with another vehicle. Don't attack anybody while you're doing this or they'll all get pissed and jump out before you can take the car.

14. @ Swazo

Tnxs for that but I got it before I read your post. I found that turning crimes on and going to volk did it easily, they are the easiest to jack for some reason.

Now I just have to find the last 3 agility orbs. They need to add sub-achievements to that one -Collect all the orbs in Los Muertos, Volk and Shai-gen. I have no idea where those last 3 are, and hopefully they would all be on one island making it easier to find if they added the subachievement I would know which island(s) they were on.
