Possible Crackdown DLC details

A tipster on the MSXbox World forums claims to have some details about the upcoming downloadable content for Crackdown. Some of these details aren't exactly new. For instance, the content should include the missing 100 achievement points and it should be free (according to recent policy changes, it has to be free, actually). There are, however, some things we hadn't heard yet. For example, the content is likely to include several new gameplay elements including vehicle impounding, street races with AI controlled cars, new equipment, new agent skins, and new mini-games. Unfortunately, all we have to go on is that the MSXbox World tipster has a reliable -- yet unnamed -- source for this info. So, for the moment, we'll take it with a grain of salt.

Would you be interested in these supposed new features? Would you like to see anything else added to Crackdown?

1. What Crackdown is begging for is some head to head deathmatch action.

Posted at 12:39PM on Mar 14th 2007 by Pimpzilla

2. Agreed Pimpzilla, the coop definitely needs to be amped up much more. Deathmatch sounds cool, but there's also tons of space for other sorts of coop missions. Imagine competing for number of kills, vehicles exploded, etc. The world is rich and complete enough that they need only add some rules to make coop more enjoyable.

3. Well, the promise that playing Crackdown will NOT ever brick my system again would be a great one to begin with!

Seriously, one thing that royally pisses me off is having to relocate back to the Agency every time I want an Agency vehicle. I want to simply just spawn one wherever I am, without going anywhere and having to drive the damn car back to the location.

4. I'm trying to avoid a spoiler here...

I assumed the content would involve taking down the last known criminal faction in the game- which, by the end of the game, has spread to the whole map.

Just my 2 cents.

5. I was thinking about a statistics tracker and that mysterious 4th Island they were talking about. Tenken has a great idea going there and I REALLY want a boss reset feature. I also would like to see Time Trials streamlined into the game, so we wont have to load on every boss. Instead there should be a marker on the world that you step on it to activate time trial just like races and such.

6. On the page for the Crackdown all-nighter this weekend there is this quote:

"You may even see a special guest online that night. Someone Irish. Maybe even fighting Irish. Check back soon for more details."

Perhaps this means we'll get a new Irish gang to fight this weekend? I don't know.

7. "You may even see a special guest online that night. Someone Irish. Maybe even fighting Irish. Check back soon for more details."

My guess is we'll see Brady Quinn, QB from the Fighting Irish. He has a profile that has been mentioned on xbox.com.

8. Nah, it's probably just Brady Quinn. What a disappointment that will be for whoever plays with him.

9. Crackdown needs more content because it (the game)feels very unfinished

Posted at 1:25PM on Mar 14th 2007 by rusty_pecker

10. Well the scanty details from the unnamed source already sound pretty juicy.

My request: An AI foe worthy of my super-powered Agent. Not asking for much. Just someone that can scale skyscrapers like me and chuck buses at my head.

11. I want an orb detector...I've got 299 hidden orbs! I just need one more! >

Posted at 1:47PM on Mar 14th 2007 by Seroth

12. There was an interview with a couple of Crackdown guys in this month's EGM. The rumor guy might've just extrapolated from what he read there, since the rumor is only slightly more specific than what was said in the mag.

Posted at 2:17PM on Mar 14th 2007 by GRT

13. And orb detector would be great, for both hidden and agility orbs.
Having an agency garage or every island would help too, so i don't have to go back to The Keep every time i blow up the SUV.

I am content waiting for a sequel to elaborate some more on the abrupt game ending.

Posted at 2:27PM on Mar 14th 2007 by Pasha

14. I second the request for an orb detector. There is nothing more depressing than searching for your 300th hidden orb. Is it in here? Nope, it's not in there. Maybe it's over there? Nope not there either. Repeat over and over and over...

One thing I noticed is that Crackdown is totally lacking anything that connects the bosses and vehicles. Cars won't help you in any of the missions. In fact, the only thing cars are good for is driving between bosses. Which is really strange. They try to make up for it with all these races and achievements for running over gangsters, but it doesn't quite fill out, it's like two separate games, one where you race cars and jump them through rings, and another where you try to rid a city of crime by jumping, shooting, punching and throwing grenades. So I think some missions that bring vehicles into play would round the game out a lot.

15. the rumored content sounds great.

the pieces are aleady in place for more islands. there is plenty of room in the ocean, and there are slots inside the keep where you spawn for more tunnels out to the new islands.

also, i want to see boats and motorcycles, and missions/bosses/minigames based around them. hell, there is already a boat ramp on the agency island and a garage door that opens directly into the water. what more could point to water-based missions?

and yeah, there is definitely a mission coming where you take out the peacekeepers. it was hinted at in the ending movie/cutscene. but i kind of figured that would come in the sequel and not as DLC.

should be a blast regardless!

16. I'm with Toph and Pasha in the sense that Agency vehicles should be retrievable at Supply Points (not necessarily all of them, but at least one on each island as Pasha pointed out).

I also know it's been said before elsewhere, but being a rider, I'd love to see a bike in there, too!

17. uuu...i like the proposed features...BUT...i will be taking them with a grain of salt. :D

more seriously...how do ANY of these have to do with the quote "we will bring more of what players do in the game"?

Posted at 3:25PM on Mar 14th 2007 by DjDATZ

18. 1- Stop crashing my 360. it doesn't happen all the time but it's locked it up a couple of times
2- Performance lags during the start up and it's only recently started to do this. WTF?
3- Add a new gang please... just 1 more so I might be able to carjack 100 gang members.
4- Orb detector please.

19. I think they need to allow more than 2 player Co-Op over Xbox Live, it would be cool for like an 8 player deal, the city is huge so I don't see why they couldn't add this.

20. How some DLC were the 300th secret orb actually shows up? Look on the crackdown forums, I'm not the only one. I went thru, with a partner, reproduced every photo in the picasa guide and still am at 299. We are thinking the one at garcia point disappears with the statue. bogus.
