1. Oh dear god, why is this US only? A UK comedian, starting out on UK comedy shows... yet we still get screwed.

Thanks again.

2. Insomnious,

I actually thought the same thing when I was typing this up. Doesn't make sense.

3. not even for your fellow northerners?

i call bs. we'll see tonight...i'll let you guys know once i get on live.

4. fellow notherners = canadians.

i know there are some ppl with a substandard IQ and poor awareness of anything that is happening or even exists outside their own borders.

Posted at 3:40PM on Feb 16th 2007 by DjDATZ

5. Datz, you're cold. Accurate, but cold. I mean, I'm pretty close to the border so maybe I've warmed up to Americans. Still, even I winced at that.

6. Seriously? This is funny. Anyone have pics as to what this looks like?

7. oh i know there are really really smart people in america. but the image of the us has been degraded through their president to the point of irreperability. i'm glad their house of reps voted down his f*****g stupid idea to send more troops to iraq.

i too have friends in the us and that are american. some of them on live too...and we do joke around about my canadian accent. and i joke with them about it because i know they're smarter than that.

but i had to include that though.

i enjoy gaming either way with anyone. as LONG as they use their mic during gears. even if its just for small talk and not awareness about the game.

8. Justify your bigotry anyway you want DATZ.. you are still a twat..

9. Way to go off topic.

Exactly what I was getting at Richard, it doesn't make sense. It's like having something inherently American - Super Bowl, Carson Daly, etc - but having it as UK & Europe exclusive.

Sometimes the Marketplace team should think things through. I'm pretty sure a free theme and gamerpic wouldn't upset our censors too much.

10. "but the image of the us has been degraded through their president to the point of irreperability."

He doesn't represent everybody, regardless if he got the popular vote (barely) last time . Face it, your trying to find reason to hate us (Americans) like everybody else.

Then there is the Marketplace issues. It's such a mess when it comes to by-laws and who owns the actual rights and distribution rights. An example: like say a CBS-made show goes on ABC (happens all the time, or did...). Well, it may be CBS's show, and ABC owns the distribution rights in the U.S. BUT CBS owns the distribution rights OUTSIDE the U.S, and may sell those rights to the appropriate company. So blame the studios, don't blame MS.

11. djDATZ~

We are all entitled to our own opinions, however, if you wish to start a political flame war, keep it up. I know I'm more then up to the task.

I have several friends, who happen to be Canadian, and there are just as high a percentage of douche bags up there as we have down here.

Think.

12. "Sometimes the Marketplace team should think things through. I'm pretty sure a free theme and gamerpic wouldn't upset our censors too much."

I'm betting it has nothing to do with censorship. Borat's coming to dvd in the states in the next couple of weeks, you'll correct me if I'm wrong, but it's already out on dvd in the UK and has been for some time. Even free content costs money to host, for bandwidth, etc. Free content seems to always be "sponsored" by this or that, and since movie-related themes/gamerpics are OBVIOUSLY just advertisements, it makes sense that if Fox is going to spend promotional money on a movie, it'll be to promote a new movie or dvd, not one that's been on the market for a while. I'm not saying it's right, but there is some rhyme and reason behind it.

16. For those of you "foreigners" who can't get it, don't fret! Do what us Americans did for out-of-the-states Demos and such.

Just create a new one, (DON'T accept the free gold trial, stay silver, you only get 3 Gold free months, save them)

Just make it be the USA, all data has to be legit.

So since I can verify this, use:
State - Missouri (MO)
City - Kansas City
Zip Code - 64118 , 64155, either one
The zip has to match a real zip to the real city it's in.

Download.

It's awesome though, there's a lot of pictures in the picture pack, at least 10.
I'm using the one of him on the beach giving thumbs up.

18. yeah, the only reason this is US only is to promo the DVD, whatever company sponsers the downloads has to foot the bill for the bandwith and other fees, so the more downloads, the more it cost them.
No reason for a US Studio to pay for content that doesn't go towards a potential customer.

@ aaron:
"He doesn't represent everybody"

Unfortunatly aaron, thats not how politics works. You can claim he doesn't represent you, but he does, and the rest of the world believes he does.

I almost fully agree with: "but the image of the us has been degraded through their president to the point of irreperability." except that it can be repaired, slowly, and hopefully someone with integrity will be elected in 2008, and the last 8 years with this clown can begin to be forgotten.

19. This may be because the movie may not have been released overseas yet?

Posted at 3:16PM on Feb 20th 2007 by Peacefuloutrage

20. aaron -
Viewing rights outside of the US are dependent on many factors. The studios are more than happy to sell the rights to the highest bidder, but it's a very complex arrangement between studios, broadcast, affiliate stations, satellite & cable operators & government requirements/laws. Often new technologies/media outlets pop up that weren't anticipated in rights agreements (which can be up to 10 yrs) & turns out it limits the availability of programs. In Canada, the government actually limits the amount of non-Canadian programming shown supposedly to protect Canadian original production & culture. Ironic, since many US productions are filmed in Canada with Canadian crews.
