1. I dunno, seems like your average run-of-the-mill promotion to me. I imagine that most people have games with a few achievements they haven't collected. Personally I'll be going through most of King Kong (I accidentally completed it on a friend's profile) and picking up the stragglers from various other games.

2. I think it's great, I even think it's too easy. 1500 over 2 months isn't really a whole lot of points, but I guess right now they're just trying it out. What I'm wondering is how many prizes they'll be giving out and stuff, cause I don't think they'll give it to everyone, or they'll just restrict the # of people to register at that site.

3. Yea i agree that it is a way for some to buy more games but we all should have seen this comming but i hope i qualify for having existing gamer points. They should have done this a long time ago. We do want something els back from the game besides that sweet green orb. (pause glup) muraaahaaaaa

4. I think it's about time they did this... hopefully they'll continue the program after the initial run. I think the prizes aren't that great, especially the amount of MS points they're giving away.

5. You're wrong, it's not a sneaky way to get us to buy and rent more games. It's a sneaky way to get us to buy more Old Spice.

Which smells nothing like wildflowers and shame.

6. Good thing. Renting games is not terribly expensive, and you could easily get the 1500 if you haven't played Kong or one of EA's first round of sports games in one weekend on rentals.

7. I believe it's something like the first 70,000 or 75,000 to reach the goal, DukeFett.

8. Is it just me or does this sort of remind people of the "Club Nintendo" over in Japan. Over there when you buy Nintendo products you get points, and you can cash these points in for prizes. And these prizes are something like stickers and other small prizes like that. Honestly I think this is a good idea for Microsoft. They do not have to be stop in your tracks prizes, just something that says thank you for being a loyal customer of ours. One thing I would like is that tee shirt that said "I'm an Xbox Live Acheivement Whore", to me that would be a great prize.

9. I'm still not 100% clear what all of the rules are for this promotion. I'm glad we don't lose gamerscore for participating and I am psyched I might get a free copy of FF2.

10. I wonder if you have to earn the points after Feb. 12th. Cuz I havent signed into XBL for over a month and I have well over the needed points. Course I'm sure they can figure out if the points were won after the start date.

11. Here's my beef: This reward system creates incredible incentives for gamerscore cheaters to boost their scores even more.

I wish they had chosen a different metric to choose the "Prize Level", like say, days played in the last year.

A new cheater now is motivated to boost his score a ton in the next month, all so he can get a free copy of fusion frenzy.

For me, things won't change one bit. I'd qualify for level two if I make the 1500 new points by april, but my only reward will be a gamer pic and a whole 100 xbl points.

I hope for the next xbox, ms splits the gamerscore into two categories: your total gamerscore, and your gamerscore earned while logged into xbox live.

12. Still just a little confused.

I have more than 10,000 GS. So If i register on xbox on Feb. 12, raise my score by 1500 asap, i get contra, oldspice t-shirt, 200 MS points, AND a copy of Fusion Frenzy 2?

13. simply put, if you want me to invest that much time onto my 360, you're gonna have to sweeten the pot. a t-shirt or two isn't a very good incentive.

14. This reward thing could be pretty good. It's just a shame it's not world-wide. Hopefully it will be in the future. Along with video marketplace.

15. "simply put, if you want me to invest that much time onto my 360, you're gonna have to sweeten the pot."
That much time?! 2 months of time to play a couple games, and depending on which games they are, it could literally be a couple of hours. I don't get people that complain about free stuff. Sony or Nintendo will never give a free $50 game just because you played their other ones a lot. Nintendo is still charging $5 for SMB which is over 20 years old and they've probly made over a billion dollars on it.
I don't mean to flame, but come on, free crap for playing games is never a bad deal.

Posted at 6:36PM on Feb 8th 2007 by DukeFett

16. DukeFett: simply put, free stuff doesn't make for a particularly good motivater if I'm not planning on using it, or if it's measley. the simple truth is that my time is at a surplus, and I can only devote so much of it to games. On top of that, i prefer to take games at my own pace, rather than trying to blast through to get all the achievements, as I don't really get any satisfaction from beating games.

the point is simply that I would have to sacrafice other facets of my life, to blast through games... rather than enjoy them, in order to get some crap that I don't really want.

17. @aragorn,

I'm sure at the end of the day they don't care how much use your xbox gets as long as you buy games for it ;)

Personally, I think it's good stuff. I already own an 360, obviously I play games on it, and, as long as there's something good out, I pick up 1-2 titles a month. To get some free swag, even if it is t-shirts/a laughable amount of MS Points/etc., it's still something free in exchange for doing an activity I was going to do anyway. That's pretty cool in my book.
