Itagaki defends the DOAX2 jiggle

In a 1UP interview, Team Ninja's main man Tomonobu Itagaki talks about everything DOAX2. Itagaki explains why certain decisions were made that affect DOAX2's gameplay, online functionality, exploits, and future updates. Not only does he have no remorse for the game's craptacular online options, but even goes far enough to say that the game's multiplayer "would have been better just to not have it to begin with". Also, a patch is going to be released removing the free money exploit, but don't worry because Team Ninja will be selling all the goods via micro-transactions. It's the old "we're removing this cheat so you can buy it from us" routine. And if you've ever questioned Team Ninja's dedication to their games; when asked about putting up a demo on the XBLM Itagaki stated that "for people who are looking for a demo it's unfortunate, since I've already begun moving on to the next game". Is it us or is Itagaki totally back peddling in this interview, stumbling over his own response, and seems totally clueless to what the fans actually want?

[Thanks, Jonah]

Hey, I like the new interface for comments!

Alls I know is, Itagaki loves boobs. A bit too much with that sexual harrassment suit, apparently.

The game is complete and utter shit. I loved the first one. There is nothing good about this one. The end boss of DOA4 was one thing, but this whole game is about that annoying. Team Ninja games have gotten to the point they punish the player for trying to play them. That is not challenging. That is just annoying and bad game design. I bought an original Xbox for DOA3. DOA2 was one of my first games on the Dreamcast. I bought DOAXBV the day it came out. I preordered DOAX2. But due to the incrediblely poor game design, punishing gameplay and game structure in a game that should be relaxing (as the first one was), and the absurdity that is the marketplace BS and the achievements, I'm never buying another game from Team Ninja. Bouncing boobies don't sell games if the games are crap. Ask the makers of the Guy Game. Itagaki shows his disdain for the fans of his games by releasing this debacle and heaping the marketplace garbage on top of it. Honestly, I hope he rots in jail. He probably deserves it.

Oh my god. He actually had the balls to say charging $400 (no, that's not a typo) for all the swimsuits is "pretty reasonable". He's obviously gone insane.

I see no reason to defend jiggle. The demo is on Live, the game can be rented. No excuse for people to not discover before buying.

"Itagaki loves boobs" and I see nothing wrong with this.

This guy is a pompous loon. He no more cares about the people that puchase his games, than Sony cares about it's customers. and you know what? People will still buy their products. The term "Idiot Savant" comes to mind. These people will continue to buy Team Ninja's games, and Sony consoles. They buy them, but they really don't know why. They think they do, but they don't. They aren't able to rationalize their purchase. They buy them, defend them, and attack those that don't. Yet for the life of them they are ignorant to what, and more so, who they support. Sad really.

Rio, I don't agree with your point in the slightest, you don't not buy a console because the comapny has messed up, you buy what you like, its not iddiocy, I am buying a PS3, not any time soon, but still buying one none the less, I know exactly why I want one, its none of your business why I am buying it, nore do I give half a damn what you think about my purchase, who made you the person to decide what people should and shouldn't like as well as should and shounldn't buy.

The same way you bought your 360 for the games it has is the same way I will buy my PS3 once the games I like start releasing. Its nothing to do with price although price is a more important factor to some people. But then, if price is such a big deal to you, why not buy Wii, its cheaper then 360.

Maybe you should be more open minded to others opinions before making remarks like that, because its simply childish.

As for Itakagi, I have never liked him, and his obsession with boobs and sexy girls is the reason he got charged for sexual harrassment in the first place, take off the damn sunglasses already, you're not from the matrix. How can people have a serious convosation with someone who is always wearing sunglasses. He seems like a desperate guy looking to get laid, and when he can't he makes porno games to entertain himself and other pervs as well.

To #4: Did you actually read anything past the title before posting? There is no demo. There is never going to be a demo. He says there is never going to be a demo... And the problem is not that the jiggle exists. The problem is that it is so absurbly exaggerated. It is not sexy, or anything like that. It is distracting and disturbing. The jiggle has been ramped up in every game since 2 (which was ramped down dramatically from 1), and it is so far beyond reality now, it is just weird.

The patch and the micro-transactions have been out since December. It wasn't a couple of weeks after being found before the exploit window was closed.

The term "Idiot Savant" means someone who is exceptionally skilled in one area, despite being mentally retarded in general terms. An example would be someone who can't tie their shoe laces, but can do advanaced calculus in their head.

DOA is great, and so is Ninja Gaiden. That's all I care about :) I'd love a demo, though.
