Announced at last year's E3, SEGA has released some new screen shots of SEGA Rally Revo. In short, the pictures are dirty, nasty, muddy, and beautiful. We have yet to see the game in motion, but the shots are definitely promising. Dare we hope that SEGA will pull out of its development funk and deliver us a newly re-imagined classic? Let's hope so. A new SEGA Rally and a great port of Virtua Fighter 5 might just rekindle our faith. Check out two more shots after the break. Click any image to enlargenate. Enjoy.

Ooh, a helicopter. Neat.

"Them Duke boys better grow some wings ...." Yeeeeeeeehaw!

I'll agree, it looks terrible.
SEGA Rally never has been much cop though, especialy when compared to somthing like Colin McRae, there just isnt any comparison.

SEGA Rally, there's a franchise I never expected to see again.
The Dreamcast version was flat out ugly, which is a real accomplishment for that system (allegedly because it used the compact WinCE libraries). Certainly a franchise with mucho potential, but given it's arcade heritage and SEGA's track record, it'll be several days late and several dollars short most likely.
Too bad, the series deserves one great looking entry that matches up to it's gameplay history.

I don't know that it's meant to compare. I've always thought it was supposed to be far more arcade-y.

Not sure if I'd pick up today, but I played the original to death on my Sega Saturn. At that time, the game was friggin incredible (at least to me).

EnderAl: Sega Rally Championship for the Sega Saturn is hands down the best racing game I've ever played.
I logged more hours on that game than I care to think about. I played it so much that I could pretty accurately gauge my lap time on the first course after the first two turns, since you have to be set up perfectly from turn to turn to get the fastest times.
I missed the dreamcast version, but I'll definitely give this one a shot.

I don't think those shots looked that bad. They're obviously not GT HD or even PGR3 pretty, but there's nothing wrong with those car models from what I could see. You couldn't say anything about the quality of the gravel or textures without seeing the game in motion either.
Rally games will be all about how the cars drive anyway.
The arcade Sega Rally games have always been great. Hopefully this one will live up to the arcade version standards. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Can you please cite a source for this and include a READ link? The reason I ask is because I read about this yesterday in an "exclusive" article on IGN, showcasing the new screenshots and officially portraying them as PS3 screenshots. There was nothing saying these were from the Xbox 360 version. We all know the PS3 sucks in the graphical department compared to Xbox 360, and I saw some people commenting on here about it not looking all that great, so I just thought I'd mention it. Here's the link:

Tom,
The game has been announced by SEGA as an Xbox 360 and PS3 title. I don't know which version these shots are from. The shots themselves are direct from SEGA, so there is no "read" link to go along with them.
I would expect any multiplatform differences to be minimal anyway. They have been so far.

I am just hoping the Microsoft Studios make Rallisport Challenge 3. RSC2 on the xbox was the best rally game I had ever played and its the only xbox game I would consider playing now.

Yes...Rallisport Challenge 2 was awesome. I was sorry to hear the EA's purchase of DICE lead to the destruction of the RC2 team which took any hope of RC3 along with it. Yes, MS does own the rights to the IP, but without the same team adding the next iteration, it would likely pale in comparison to what would have been a great game. And as I understand it, the game wasn't that great of a seller so the whole project will probably remain dead.
Here's hoping that Sega will ease my pain by making this an amazing game! Hairpin turns and cliff exposure!
