Joystiq video review of wireless headset
Joystiq recently got their grubby little hands on the new Xbox 360 Wireless headset. Just to be nice to the Youtube generation, they've done away with the need for silly printed words and have created a video review of the device. For the record, I didn't really want one of these. I didn't really see the point. But now ... now I want one with a furious passion. Still, there are a few things to consider. One, this headset uses proprietary wireless technology (read: not Bluetooth), so you'll only be using it for your 360 (why, oh why can't someone make a Blutooth adapter?). Second, seeing how it wraps around the ear, I'm not sure how comfortable it would be for those of us who wear glasses. Three, it retails for $59.99 (though it can be found for less). Ouch. Still, it is a sexy little piece of kit. Anybody out there pick one up yet? What do you think?

(Page 1)2. I've had my headset since Monday, and the jury's still out on it.
Setup is incredibly easy, and if you've synced up a wireless controller before, you'll have no problem setting this up. Press the sync button on the system, press the sync button on the headset. Done.
The sound quality is fine. Comparible to the regular headset. It's very comfortable too (I wear glasses and it provides absolutely no issues with my glasses at all).
I have encountered some... feedback, I guess you could say, where I hear my own voice on the headset about a second or two after I speak. It's very annoying. Admittedly though, this is an issue I've had with the wired headset.
The range isn't all that spectacular. I can walk around my room just fine but if I walk out of my room into the bathroom down the hall (maybe 20 feet away) I lose connection. Forget about trying to go downstairs! I live in an old house though, with thick walls, so perhaps this is the issue.
Oddly enough, I have had the headset randomly disconnect itself while in use. I do have a wireless router and a wireless telephone in the room, so this might be causing some interference, but I've never had controller issues, so I'm not sure what the problem is here. The headset will drop it's connection (sending the voice to the television) and then reconnect in a matter of seconds. Not a major hassle by any means but when someone is shouting orders at you it's pretty important that you're able to hear them and not miss words.
I enjoy the headset, but I'm not 100% satisfied with it based on my experience. The wireless freedom is certainly nice and I find it MUCH more comfortable to use than the wired headset but there have been occassions where I've wanted to chuck it across the room.

3. That issue of hearing your own voice feedback sounds strange. I've had that problem before, but it was because a person I was chatting with had a bad headset. It was a regular wired one, but I believe it had faulty wiring, because he tried another one and it was fine. The problem is very annoying and disorienting. I hope it's not common with the new headset.

4. My headset disconnected three times last night playing call of duty 3. So I guess it's not just my headset. I too have a wireless router and a 2.4 phone.

5. The disconnection problem seems to be affecting quite a few of the wireless headsets. Mine has been working fine thankfully, but hopefully Microsoft can issue a fix for those who are affected by this issue.

6. I should note that my 360 is not connected to the internet wirelessly. Even though I have a wireless router I have the system hooked up via a wire.
And yes, the feedback issue is very disorienting. I have had this issue with the wired headset too, though it was usually something that wasn't consistant.

7. I got mine a day or two after it came out, and I couldn't be happier. If you read the manual (too many people don't) you find that the range is the same as the controller, which just makes sense. I will say that the baby moniter interfears somtimes, but no biggie, there's so many wireless signals floating around it doens't surprise me at all.

8. two friends have it ans both create huge static in COD3. So far that is the only game to cause the noise.

9. First, to all those who refuse to put voice only through headset and NOT also through speakers, you are ruining live for us all. That is the primary source of your feedback loop. However, there does seem to be a bug somewhere that causes this as well. Un/replugging the mic seems to fix this most often. So far as I can tell my wireless mic performs just dandy.

12. Im on my second headset. The first one would randomly disconnect from my 360, and then it wouldnt sync with my 360, and when i would try to get it back to the first quadrant, it would skip over it like it wasnt even there! And guess what! The second does the exact same bullshit the first one did! Way to go M$! I love your RUSHED shitty products!

1. I just received mine yesterday. The sound is great. I was able to walk about 3x the distance away from my xbox and still talk to my friends.
It is so much better then having the headset with a wire. I give it a 9 out of 10.
