It seems that zombies -- not math or music -- are in fact the universal language. Transcending all cultural barriers, Dead Rising, in its first week of release in the UK, has topped the Euro charts, knocking Saints Row off of the coveted top spot. And Britain loves gangstas, too -- though we must admit that the pimped out thugs of Saints Row aren't the suave Layer Cake gangstas that the UK is used to. Still, tiny text and red lights be damned, Dead Rising cannot be ignored. Any UK readers care to comment on their experience with the game thus far?

I played this for a few hours and got really annoyed with the save system.
Besides, TDU has now eaten away any spare time I had.

At first I was having a few DREs but I tried the "load 5 games" method to apparently clear the cache and it seems to have worked.

This is an excellent game but as stated above the way you save your game is crap!
Also the text is a bit small and doesn't stay on screen enough for you to actually read. That aside though its a great game well worth the extra wait.

I kinda like the save system - it makes the game feel more like a story, rather than jumping around the timeline by loading different saves.
The AI is appaling however. Trying to lead a group of people back to the save room is amazingly frustrating, and usually ends up with you abandoning someone in order to save the rest.
What I love most about this game, however, is that there is so much to do, and loads of enjoable achievements. This is my third time through and I've still finding new people to save, and new cut-scenes.
... where was the above screen shot taken?

Agreed. Trying to save people is incredibly annoying, and so far I've not been all that impressed with Dead Rising. It's OK for a laugh every now and again, but the AI lets it down considerably.

I personally love the Save System. Think its genius, it makes you get more into the game. This save system is perfect for this type of game.
Now with the AI, I find its pretty dumb. So with dumb AI, I just constatnly reissue orders "Y" and walk the path with the least zombies in the way. Has worked just find for me. Plus it helps if you give the people shotgons or pistols. Since if they use the weapons they last forever.
@6 The screenshot was taken when you play overtime mode. The "true" ending to the game. Basically in overtime mode the helo does not come back for you, and you go through the sewers and fight the tank commander. And then you get infinity mode.

i dont know if its cause i play on my lcd or what but i never had issues with the text... and i must agree the saving is a real bi*ch but then again if it was able to save more than once and save anywhere... the game wouyld be far to easy i guess... this way it creates some intensity... "i have 1 health bar, theirs no food around and ive got 3000 zombies between me and the nearest bathroom can i really make it?... /me picks up sledgehammer and katana sword" HEHEHEHEHE

The save system is great. With the save system as it is, it actually means something if you die. Now, do I want every game to save like this? No, but for Dead Rising, it works great.

Saints row probably sells more, but as you can get a grey import from Japan/asia at less than 1/2 price, it wont show in the euro figures!

I can't get enough of Saint's Row at the moment. Problem is the hours literally fly by once you turn it on!
Played through the Dead Rising Demo a few times and it got very repetitive very quickly for me.
I know it was just a demo but even with the variety of weapons it felt a bit monotonous.
How does the full version compare to the demo?

I beat it recently, I loved it! Thankfully, the objectives are displayed in slightly larger text on the watch screen so I could figure out what my objectives are.
As for the save system, I really didn't have any problem with it. I knew I had to be careful in order to get cases on time, but I rarely saved it in a spot where I could miss it. I wouldn't really save more than once on other games anyway, only if I wanted to go back to a previous save and try to see if I could do better.

I also agree that the save system is perfect for the game type. It's a survival horror, death has to mean something. And I don't have a problem with there just being one save slot personally. Seems to work fine.
Otherwise love the game. So much to do, and I can do what I want, and great atmosphere. It was a long month's wait from the US release, but well worth it.

@17 Well dont worry about spoiling it for you.. But theres really like 7 endings. 6 from the 72 Hour mode, and 1 from the Overtime mode. Not to mention I would have figured that the achievements kinda gave it away..
Unbreakable Achievement REQ: Get the ture ending without being knocked out.
Overtime Mode Achievement REQ: Unveil all CASES and be at the heliport at noon.
∞ Mode Achievement REQ: Get the true ending.
Just to save you some frustration when playing it through the first time if you complete all the cases. Make sure you do what is requested on you walkie talkie before 10am on the last day, otherwise you get a shitty ending and do not unlock Overtime mode.
