Update: According to the Xbox.com support page, Xbox Live is up and running but some users may encounter issues with matchmaking and voice communication. Apparently technicians are working on the issue as we speak ... uh ... I mean type.
Reports are coming in from readers that Xbox Live is currently encountering intermittent connection issues, by that we mean playing online, voice communication and even connecting to the service seems to be touch-n-go. The support page for Xbox.com has verified the service has hit a snag, while Major Nelson updated the situation at 11PM EST letting Xbox Live users know that "[the] team is updating [the support page] as conditions change."
While we understand the frustration our readers are feeling we'd like to echo a comment made when Live was down on Monday, better it be now than on or after April 29. No excuse we know, but we're trying to find that silver lining.

They really need to get it together. BUT i will say that hopefully they are preparing for the insane increase in LIVE usage after the 29th. That'd be nice.

I haven't had any connection issues since Sunday. I have had various hardware issues since then, including:
- The controller disconnecting and not able to be recognized by my 360 during reconnect;
- The 360 turns back on when I shut it off;
- Four solid red lights when I'm playing a game, usually with the power light off (?!?)
Sometimes the lights randomly turned off and changed colors in various patterns... I know it was code but I didn't record it.

Mine went RROD on Sunday afternoon, again. Coffin hasn't come yet. Hopefully they'll refund the $130 I had to pay for my first repair in August 2006.

4 solid lights is your AV cable isn't seated correctly.
(And your xbox360 is never really off; so it can start-up with a remote command from controllers or download Live content in background if enabled)

There's a difference between flashing (the AV error) and solid. Besides, I am still getting picture.
And there's a difference between sleep and constantly booting.

Man this blows.. I will get on for like 5 mins then boom kicked out.. Start a game and kicked out. I gave up for the night.
Halo just will not connect or stay connected.
I love XBLIVE but they need to do some more in depth testing before doing these updates. From a company as big as Microsoft this is almost unacceptable and I work in the IT Industrty.

They gotta fix this, I was playing with a nice group of people on COD 4. There was a little kid talking smack about our "sisters" for some reason. Some british dude that kept talking about bacon, and I had just gotten a new gun.
I thought it was my isp, I was about to rip the modem off the wall, throw it out the window, and call comcast in the morning. Hurry up and fix XBOX Live, or else...
Ill do stuff
Like watch porn
And kittens.

Well much like cellphone, cable, and other company's they better credit the live community for this type of bullshit....we pay for a service to be able to be connected to live....not to have extremely short sessions where we can't get anything done.
Simply telling us that there is a problem and they are working on it isn't what we are paying for... Get your act together Microsoft we aren't giving our money to you for no reason...

Yea as I posted on another post, I am having quite a few issues tonight with it. No matchmaking (COD4 for example), can't barely even log on most of the time, voice chat problems etc.
This stuff happens so I am not really pissed. More just disappointed because I did want to play.
Though I do agree with aMp when he said that they should do more in depth testing before these maintenance updates. It seems that often after they take them down for awhile, there are problems later on. Which is bound to happen to a degree, I understand that but maybe they should do a bit more testing. Then again I don't know much about that kind of stuff so....yea I can't say much. Hah.

Just got booted from a freakin' sweet game of Sabotage on CoD4-- I was in the top 3 on my team and I had just planted the bomb and we were about ready to finish it off. So frustrating!!! This has been happening more often yesterday and today in my personal experience...

Been trying to connect since 11 pm EST. Disconnected 19 times in 54 minutes!
It blows me away that there could exist issues like this, STILL, years into the 360 lifespan, let alone the existence of LIVE.
Seeing that LIVE is the bread-and-butter for the whole Xbox 360 platform, I can't understand why it goes down so often.

Live is down again, what a shock. I'm sure it'll go down again next Tuesday, unless it's still having problems from right now, which is very likely.

this really blows but whats worst is that ever since those stupid guy in texas? flled a law suit against xbox live we end up getting almost nothing that would resemble information about the live service and why it sometimes acts up ....
cant major nelson "speculate" about what "might" be going "less than optimal" ????

Kept getting disconnected all night. And what's with the random "download update" prompts??
I'm pretty confident that things will be MUCH worse (if that's possible) a week from tonight.

yah, was having a great game of hardcore deathmatch when mine went down. had just put an m4 round in a guy's noodle from the other side of chinatown and then...nothing. i really do wonder if something similar will happen once GTAIV comes out. it seems like LIVE is on the fritz at least once a week now.
