A certain big box store is taking pre-orders for Halo 3 with a listed release date of December 30, 2010. The whole idea of pre-ordering video games, which hardly ever sell out, is pretty stupid to begin with, but this stretches a tired ploy to the limit -- no matter how low the rate of return on your junior savings account. Not that anybody puts stock in retailer release dates, but let's hope Bungie works a little faster than than the slow minds at Best Buy.

I went into EB games for Chromehounds and New Super Mario Bros the week they came out and they were out of stock. The clerk was like, yea you have to preorder stuff like that and tried to get me to preorder GoW. I said no, walked across the parking lot to Target and got both games.
I think EB is ordering too few of games to scare people into preorders. The only game I've ever seen sell out and not be available anywhere was GTA:Vice City. The only game I preordered was Halo2, which they then pressed 7 million copies so it was a non issue.
P.S.-FUCK BEST BUY

puh_fifer> I have to agree. I got stiffed with GRAW and Dead Rising at EB and Gamestop, then sauntered into Target and they had plenty of both. I don't think it's because they don't order enough, they both had a bunch, but they all had pre-order tags on them. target doesn't do that, do if you get there first, you get your game. The way it freakin' should be.

Certain games are worth reserving, like Halo 2. If i hadn't reserved it, I would have had to go scavaging for mine.

I had friends who pre ordered Halo 2, then at midnight stood in huge lines for a long time. I walked into the same store the next morning, and bought it, I was the only one in the store.

Mayhap Bungie is secretly owned by Square Enix, i mean, 2010?
If this is true, its bad news for the 360, Halo was what put the original ahead of the GC, right?

Same exact thing happened to me with GRAW, and as an added bounus the GS clerk was a complete @Sshole. Then the dude behind me told me to walk right next door to Target and pick up a copy and sure enough they had about 50 on hand. I always go to Target now to get my games.

Nothing wrong with Best buy, they been having a pre order for a while now. Stores understand how big Halo is and thats why pre order are around. EB just preorderd everything which is stupid. I pre order big titles i know that will be hard to get where i live.

NOTE: An official release date for this title has yet to be announced.
If you read further 360 Fanboy, that its just a date BBY picked, its nothing official. They are offereing a pre order with no release date. Dumb topic to start.

Pre-ordering is total joke.. all the big stores (read big-box) have tons of copies of games. Even those with the pre-order xboxes.. i got mine before a lot of pre-order people. Cash grab... and then most of the time the big-box stores sell it less than places like EB..

Obviously this is a temporary date to do the latest date possible. Common sense doesn't really provail in the news industry, does it?

Isn't it early to do that? Hey, the market's kind of volatile, and a lot of things can happen a long the way.
