2006, the Summer of Arcade Love
The video above shows off some of the arcade titles coming out within the next month. Cloning Clyde in particular looks like a lot of fun. Frankly, I'm a little puzzled as to why Namco insists on releasing Pac-Man when Ms. Pac-Man is clearly superior. And how the hell does E. Honda beat Ryu anyway?
After the break is another video. This one is Greg Canessa, Group Manager for Xbox Live Arcade, being interviewed by 1UP's Luke Smith -- wearing his best Peter Jackson costume by the look of it. The interview reveals a few nice tidbits, the biggest of which is that there are around thirty new arcade titles to be released by the end of the year. When asked if Bungie is working on any Arcade titles, Canessa gives a titillating "Stay tuned." Check out the interview after the break.

(Page 1)2. The retro gaming fad just doesnt to it for me. With the Wii's VC and what PS3 is doing, and XBL releasing retro hits, free trials are are great, just dont expect me to spend any money. I am saving my MS points for more games like Geometry Wars and Marble Blast Ultra. I am really looking forward to Clyde and also small arms. with 30 new games by the end of the year, there is bound to be some sweet titles in there. And did you say Bungie? That would be one title to really get my halo fanboy juices flowing, even if it is Marathon (not really a retro hit). I hope bungie releases pimps at sea for XBLA.

5. Pac-Man is the original and best, Ms. pac-man does not even compete...
Just my 2 cents

6. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't expand SFII to 16:9. I hate sidebars!
I'm trying to view the decision to release Pac-Man over Ms. Pac-Man from a publisher's standpoint. Your average 15-year-old gamer doesn't know that Ms. Pac-Man is a far superior game than the original. They'd probably have passed on Ms. Pac-Man thinking it's the "girl version" of the same old game. The older gamer who would be interested in a release of Ms. Pac-Man would be nearly or just as interested in plain old Pac-Man. They'll use this is a gauge and a stepping stone for future iterations on XBLA.
I couldn't be less interested in playing Pac-Man (and I have a Pac-Man tattoo, fercryinoutloud!), but I'll probably plunk down the points so that my fiancee has something to play on "our" 360 and simply to support the effort.

7. They are releasing Mrs. Pacman. During E3 there was a video on the Marketplace that showed upcoming arcade titles and Mrs. pacman was one....as well as Sonic. They are just releasing Pacman first (it is the original)

1. Namco didn't make Ms. Pac-Man.
It was an unauthorized Pac-Man board mod that Midway bought from GCC and then repurposed for release as Ms. Pac-Man. This is very probably one of the games that Microsoft describes as being in "legal limbo."
Although, Namco has officially released Ms. Pac-Man previously, so who knows.
