Battlefield: Bad Company multiplayer preview
Since being bit by the delay bug, Battlefield: Bad Company has been flying under the radar, but recently developer DICE felt confident enough to show off the game's multiplayer and it actually impresses.
IGN posted a nice writeup of their first Bad Company multiplayer experience and are pleased to report that the framerate, textures and overall look of the game has drastically improved since their single player play session last year. The extra polish looks to have paid off. Their hands on time consisted of a 16 player versus multiplayer match in a map called "Ascension" (no, not that Ascension) where the goal was to lay waste to the other team all while destroying their heavily secured gold stash. The graphics are sharp, the gameplay was solid enough, the destructible environments lived up to their name and IGN walked away satisfied and hopeful. And from their positive praise (and videos like the one above) we're, oddly enough, impressed as well. Make the jump to read their complete multiplayer writeup as well as their preview of a yet to be played campaign mission. B-company out.

Glad to see it's shaped back up again. I've been looking forward to this game for it's Call of Duty 4 like gameplay...but not as serious. That and the destructible environments. Was mostly wanting the single player, but it's good that the multiplayer looks solid as well.

Why do the characters in Battlefield games have to be louder than the actual game. It sucks because you can't turn up the stereo volume to hear the game, since the yelling will become even louder.
Also lets limit the amount of ingame screaming our characters do for every little action to a minimum.

Wow! I'm completely NOT impressed!
I know they have to tweak the physics a bit more, but if knifing a wooden fence BLOWS UP the fence, they have a lot of work cut out for them...

Anyone know if structurally compromised buildings will collapse? I'd hate to see a second floor floating in space with no lower supports. But if you could topple entire buildings that would be cool. Imagine, knock out the lower walls to kill a rooftop or upper floor sniper. Though I'm a little bit worried about all that fog. Would like to see some other maps in action.

I'm a BF nut and every word has me salivating, but the one thing that worries me is that the destruction is too easy.
A grenade wouldn't really take out a brick wall and a knife, well, yeeeaaahhh . . . ..

I'm still patiently waiting my next BF fix. Battlefield 2 was awesome fun!
And just for the record, the anti-aircraft tank (with the GTAM's) was my fav. Beep, beep, beep, BOOM!
